It was also said that if the noble youth Fire-born was not obtained, he would vomit blood and die, and such a situation would occur. The king said: Venerable Ananda, I prostrate to the Blessed One. I will do as the Blessed One has said. The venerable Ananda said to the great king Ashoka and left. The king said: This young householder was raised by me, he is pleasing and pitiful, so he should be given away with a vow, and I will give him away if he sends him to see me three times a day. He said: O God, if I don't send him to you, to whom else shall I send him? I will send him. The king adorned him with all kinds of ornaments, put him on an elephant and sent him away. Thus, the custom of the world is that the son's name is not proclaimed as long as the father is alive. After some time, the very good householder passed away, and the youth Fire-born lived in his father's house. He had great faith in the Buddha, great faith in the Dharma and the Sangha, and took refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha. He had a temple built in the direction where the very good householder had not killed his mother, and he prepared all the utensils completely and offered them to the Sangha of the four directions. In this way, the permanent residents also associated the sutras with the Blessed One dwelling in the Bamboo Grove Garden in Rajagriha. Some of the very good householder's people who lived by selling butter went to other places, and they heard that the very good householder was about to die, and the youth Fire-born was living in his own house, and he had great faith in the Buddha, great faith in the Dharma and the Sangha, and took refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha. After hearing this, they filled a bowl of the best sandalwood with jewels and sent it to the householder Fire-born as a gift. He also hung it on the top of a long tree and placed it there, saying, "No one should take this with ladders, wooden frames, and cranks, etc. Like this, good.

Some ascetics or Brahmins have great magical powers and great strength. Some of them proclaimed that whoever could take the bowl could take it as they pleased. Furthermore, the non-Buddhists got up early in the morning and went to the riverbank to wash. They saw this incident and said to the householder Fire-born: "Householder, what is this?" He told them the details. They said: "Householder, you have great faith in the ascetics, the sons of Shakya, so they will definitely take the bowl." Then they left. At that time, some elder monks went to Rajagriha for alms and saw the incident. They also asked the householder Fire-born: "Householder, what is this?" He told them the details as before. They said: "Householder, the Blessed One has taught that monks should conceal their virtues and proclaim their faults. Should we reveal ourselves for the sake of a bowl?" Then they left. At that time, the venerable Maudgalyayana, possessor of the ten powers, came to that place and asked the householder: "Householder, what is this?" He told him the details. The venerable Maudgalyayana, possessor of the ten powers, thought: "If I abandon, discard, cut off, and purify the accumulation of defilements that I have accumulated since beginningless time, the householder will definitely think that I am competing with the non-Buddhists in magical powers. Therefore, I should please him." So, he stretched out his hand like an elephant's trunk, took the bowl, and then took it to the monastery. There, the monks asked him: "Venerable, where did you get this sandalwood bowl?" He told them the details. The monks said: "Venerable, how can you display magical powers in front of laypeople for the sake of a bowl?" At that time, the venerable ones said: "Whether it should have been done or not, it has already been done, so there is nothing we can do now." The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed: "Monks should not display magical powers in front of laypeople. They should not display them."

That will become a serious violation. Furthermore, the four kinds of bowls made of gold, made of silver, made of beryl, and made of crystal. Also, the four kinds of bowls made of rāga, made of copper, made of kharva, and made of wood. Like this, whichever of the first four bowls are, those that have not been taken should not be taken, and those that have been taken should be discarded. Whichever of the last four bowls are, those that have not been taken should not be taken, and those that have been taken should be used as medicine bowls. Like this, the two bowls of iron and earth are those that can be blessed. Then, at another time, the householder Fire-born, having experienced the glory of gods and humans, between the royal palace (Rājagṛha) and Campā, there was a place called Śo-gam, and the Śo-gam person there, when the time of death came, was born as a cruel yaksha. He said in his son's dream: Son, have a yaksha shrine built in this place, and hang a bell there. Whenever someone goes there without paying the Śo-gam fee for goods, the bell will make a sound. When those people turn back, the Śo-gam fee will be paid. He repeated the dream to relatives, friends, and family, and when the auspicious day, number, moment, planet, constellation, and time arrived, he had a yaksha shrine built there and hung a bell there. In the city of Campā, a Brahmin took a wife from the same caste. That Brahmin woman thought: I enjoy the wealth acquired by the Brahmin through various means, but I do nothing, which is not in accordance with my status. So, she went to the market, bought cotton and wool, spun it into thread with a spinning wheel, and then gave it to a skilled weaver, asking him to weave a piece of cloth worth a thousand Kārṣāpaṇas. Then she said to the Brahmin: This cloth is worth a thousand Kārṣāpaṇas. Go to the market and give it to those who pay a thousand Kārṣāpaṇas. If they do not pay, proclaim that it is not the market price and go elsewhere. He took it and went to the market.
