At the time of reproaching impure conduct, they reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, starting from "This happened," did so until "establishing the training." Furthermore, if any bhikkhuni holds something made of grass mat, she commits a downfall. "Furthermore, who" refers to: Thullananda. "Holding" refers to: something made of grass mat. "Holding" refers to oneself. "Commits a downfall" refers to the same as before. So, how does one commit a downfall? If a bhikkhuni holds even a little something made of grass mat, she commits a downfall in its entirety. The monks became doubtful, from "The monks became doubtful" to "The venerable Thullananda saw many people laughing." The Blessed One said: Bhikkhus, not only now, but also in the past, Thullananda caused many people to laugh, listen to that. Bhikkhus, in the past, in the city of Varanasi, there was a king named Brahma-datta who ruled. At that time, a Brahmin married the daughter of a local Brahmin, from "At that time, a Brahmin married the daughter of a local Brahmin" to "The Brahmin girl could not bear that Brahmin," in order to be sent to her father-in-law's house. That girl rode on a donkey and went to her father's house. At that time, the girl asked, and he also said, from "At that time, the girl asked, and he also said" to "When the girl asked, the Brahmin started sleeping as usual," because the Brahmin wanted a clean sound, he went to fetch water, at that time, because of the sound of the water pot shaking, the donkey was startled, because it was startled, that girl went to the city as she was, and many people were laughing, until here. Then, that Brahmin at that time spoke this verse: The sound of the water pot shaking, the donkey was greatly startled, because of the deeds of this woman without a daughter, I am also ashamed here. Bhikkhus, what do you think? Who was that Brahmin girl? It is this Thullananda, from "It is this Thullananda" to "both before and now." The second of the twelfth downfall ends. The origin of the story is in Shravasti.

Then, many householders' wives requested the Venerable Sbom-dga'-mo (Fat Joyful Woman) to teach the Dharma. After they requested, Sbom-dga'-mo said, "Lay out a seat!" After they laid out a seat for her, she sat on the laid-out seat, faced the wall, and began to teach, holding a long sutra. Then, the Brahmins and those householders' wives thought, "The nuns' work is only to recite and remember, but we will neglect our household affairs." Thinking this, they left. The female novice who was following behind asked, "Venerable, to whom are you teaching the Dharma?" She replied, "To the Brahmins and the householders' wives." The female novice said, "They have left, weary." From "Sbom-dga'-mo also abandoned the seat and left" to "Those who took the seat without permission said it was stolen" to "The Brahmins and the householders' wives blamed each other," the situation was reported to the Bhagavan. After that, the Bhagavan made a teaching from "This happened" to "Establishing the precept." Furthermore, if a nun, when teaching the Dharma, abandons the seat and leaves without entrusting it to the householder, she commits a downfall. "Furthermore, who" refers to Sbom-dga'-mo. "Without entrusting" refers to not entrusting it to the owner. "Leaves" refers to goes. "Commits a downfall" refers to the same as before. So, how does one commit a downfall? As long as the nun slightly leaves without entrusting the seat to the owner, she commits a downfall in all cases. The third of the twelfth downfall ends. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. Afterwards, because the people of the central region are accustomed to laying out seats in the homes of Brahmins and householders without taking them away, a Brahmin laid out a seat and placed a guardian there. Sbom-dga'-mo also entered that house for alms, and she said, "Auspicious woman, please give alms." Then, that woman said, "Venerable, there is a seat guardian here. Let her guard it, and you go and get the food and come back." That woman also entered the house for food, and Sbom-dga'-mo sat on the Brahmin's seat.
