因为不了解，世尊开示说：长度为善逝四拃（zhǎ）。宽度为一拃半。当世尊开示尺寸的时候，十二部众超过尺寸，以及那些少欲的比丘尼们呵责的时候，向世尊禀告。之后，世尊从“发生这件事”开始，直到制定学处为止。比丘尼做遮盖疮口的衣服，让他们按照尺寸来做。 其中，遮盖疮口的衣服的尺寸是这样的：长度为善逝一拃的四倍。宽度为一拃半。如果超过这个尺寸，就割掉，犯堕罪。遮盖疮口的衣服，就是生病的衣服。比丘尼，就是信奉此法者。做吗，就是自己做。让他们做，就是别人做。长度为善逝一拃的四倍，就是那个水无论在哪里，都符合尺寸的六肘（chǒu）。善逝，就是导师。宽度为一拃半，就是符合尺寸的三肘。超过，就是超过那个。做吗，就是自己做。让他们做，就是别人做。割掉，就是弄平。犯堕罪，就是和前面一样。那么，如何会犯堕罪呢？比丘尼稍微让遮盖疮口的衣服超过六肘，全部割掉，犯堕罪。在谁面前忏悔，直到那里都和前面说的一样。第七堕的第八条结束。 事情的起因是在舍卫城（Śrāvastī）。当时，难陀（Nanda）让做善逝的法衣的尺寸，世尊禁止了。粗欢喜母（Sthūlanandā）也看见了难陀，让她做了善逝法衣尺寸的法衣，分好后，去了比丘尼的夏安居处。她把一些善逝法衣的尺寸塞在腋下，一些披在肩膀上，一些穿在身上，一些卷着坐着。于是比丘尼们说道：

When the nuns made clothes to cover wounds, they were made to do it according to the measurements. If it exceeds this size, it must be cut off, and it is a downfall. The cloth covering the sores is the sick cloth. A nun is one who believes in this Dharma. To do it, is to do it oneself. To have them do it, is to have others do it. The length is four times the height of the Sugata's span, which is six cubits that meet the measurement wherever the water is. Sugata is the teacher. The width is one and a half spans, which is three cubits that meet the measurement. To exceed, is to exceed that. To do it, is to do it oneself. To have them do it, is to have others do it. To cut off, is to make it even. To commit a downfall, is the same as before. So, how does one commit a downfall? If a nun slightly allows the cloth covering the sores to exceed six cubits, she must cut it all off and commit a downfall. At that time, Nanda had the measurements of the Sugata's Dharma robes made, but the Blessed One forbade it. Sthūlanandā also saw Nanda, had her make Dharma robes of the size of the Sugata's Dharma robes, divided them, and went to the nuns' summer retreat.
