then in all cases it becomes an offense of downfall. The fourth of the fourth downfall is complete. The beginning is in Shravasti. At that time, the Blessed One, relying on the group of six, forbade begging for food, but allowed it for the sick. Then, the group of twelve begged for food in the homes of Brahmins and householders, and the sick also enjoyed it, and the non-sick also enjoyed it. When the nuns admonished them, they said, "The precepts are made for the monks, not for the nuns." When those nuns of few desires rebuked them, they reported it to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, from "This happened" to the establishment of the precepts. For the sick nuns, what is allowed to beg for food is this: milk, yogurt, butter, fish, meat, dried meat. Furthermore, if a nun who is not sick prepares or eats such food for herself, and begs from other people's homes to eat or consume, she commits an offense of downfall. "Whoever those are" means: the Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One, the Worthy One, the Perfectly Awakened One. "The sick" means: those afflicted by illness. "The nuns" means: the female disciples of the Thus-Gone One. "Begging" means: delicious food. "Preparing and eating" means: five preparations and five consumptions. "Milk" means: milk itself. "Yogurt" means: yogurt itself. "Butter" means: butter. "Meat" means: meat itself. "Fish" means: fish itself. "Dried meat" means: dried meat itself. "Begging from homes like this" means: oneself. "Causing to beg" means: others. "Ate or consumed" means: secretly swallowing a mouthful. "Committing an offense of downfall" means: as mentioned before. Begging without being sick and eating without being sick, committing a misdeed when begging, and committing an offense of downfall when eating. Begging without being sick and eating when sick, committing a misdeed when begging, and not committing an offense of downfall when eating. Similarly, begging when sick and eating when not sick, not committing an offense of downfall when begging, and committing an offense of downfall when eating.

Also thus, if a Bhikshuni is sick, or if she is sick and does not eat, both are without offense. The fifth of the fourth Patayantika is complete. The origin is in Shravasti. Then, after the twelve groups had an offense of defilement, they concealed it from each other, and they fought and exposed each other's faults, and they talked about it with each other. When the nuns of few desires heard about it, they blamed them, and reported to the Blessed One. Then the Blessed One, from "This happened," made the precepts up to the establishment of the precepts. Again, if a Bhikshuni knowingly conceals the defilement offense of a Bhikshuni, she commits a Patayantika. Again, "whoever is a Bhikshuni" refers to the twelve groups. "Defilement" refers to two kinds of defilement: that which is caused by Parajika, and that which is caused by Sanghavasesa. "Conceal" means not telling others. "Commits a Patayantika" is as before. How does she commit a Patayantika? If a Bhikshuni sees a Bhikshuni committing an offense of Parajika, and she has the intention to conceal it, she commits a Patayantika. Likewise, Sanghavasesa, likewise Patayantika, likewise should be confessed separately, and for Duskrta, it is Duskrta. If there is a quarrel, there is no offense. The sixth of the fourth Patayantika is complete. The origin is in Shravasti. Then the twelve groups thought, "If these tailors with black bowls exalt themselves in front of us Bhikshunis, what harm shall we do to them?" Then the coarse joyful mother and the crown joyful mother said, "It is better to exalt ourselves in return." They invited the old Bhikshunis to the streets, crossroads, and four-way intersections, and made them wander around as long as the alms-seekers chanted. The twelve groups secretly went to the houses of Brahmins and householders in pairs and ate alms. Then those old Bhikshunis came to the summer retreat, and sat together, and lived with them, and the lay followers said, "Holy ones,"

It is not reasonable. If it is said that it is someone else's food, is the stomach also someone else's? They said this: Who ate today? They said this: Didn't they kill livestock? At those times, they said to the nuns, and when those nuns with few desires were scolding, they reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, starting from "This happened," made it up to the establishment of the precepts. Furthermore, if any quarrelsome nun thinks that she must find fault with this nun, she uses this as an excuse and says to the nun: Holy Mother, go to the laypeople's homes. There, you can be given as much food, clothing, and offerings as you want. After saying that, without letting her get the food, clothing, and offerings she wanted, she then says this: Holy Mother, it is not comfortable for you and me to talk or sit together. Even so, it is comfortable for me to talk or sit alone. Leave. If she says that, she commits a downfall. Furthermore, which nun refers to the twelve divisions. To the nun refers to the Blessed One's female disciple. Saying this refers to speaking. Go to the laypeople's homes refers to the homes of Brahmins and householders. There, you can be given as much food, clothing, and offerings as you want refers to the five types of clothing and five types of food. As much as you want refers to how much you want to eat. Without letting her receive the offering, saying this: It is not comfortable for you and me to be together refers to not being happy with you. Speaking refers to words. Sitting refers to being seated. Finding fault refers to looking for even the slightest fault. Committing a downfall refers to being the same as before. If so, how does one commit a downfall? As long as the nun finds a little fault and says those words, she will commit a downfall in all cases. If there is a doctor's permission, or relying on that, the Sangha has cut off food, if it is an impermissible situation, there is no downfall. The seventh of the fourth downfall is complete. The basis of the story is in Shravasti. Who...
