Having demanded [something], if she causes a non-relative weaver to weave cloth, it is an offense entailing forfeiture. The term "bhikshuni named so-and-so" refers to a stout, pleasing woman. The term "non-relative" refers to the mother's mother, the father's mother, up to seven generations of relatives. The term "thread" refers to any of the seven types. The term "non-relative weaver" refers to a weaver who weaves cloth. The term "cloth" refers to any of the seven types. The term "causes to weave" means causing [someone] to weave. The term "offense entailing forfeiture" is as previously stated. How does one incur an offense in that case? If a bhikshuni demands thread from a non-relative and causes a non-relative weaver to weave cloth, upon demanding it, she commits an offense of wrong-doing. If she causes a non-relative weaver to weave cloth and it is completed, it is an offense entailing forfeiture. If a bhikshuni demands thread from a non-relative and causes herself or a non-relative weaver to weave cloth, upon demanding it, she commits an offense of wrong-doing. If she weaves it herself, she also commits an offense of wrong-doing. If she causes a non-relative to weave cloth and it is completed, it is an offense entailing forfeiture.

If a bhikkhuni begs thread from a relative, and weaves it herself, or has a non-relative weave it, there is no offense in begging for it. If she weaves it herself, she commits a dukkaṭa. If she has a non-relative weave it and it is finished, she commits a nissaggiya pācittiya. Again, if any bhikkhuni begs thread from a relative, and has a weaver who is a relative weave it, there is no offense in begging for it. There is also no offense in having a relative weave it. If a bhikkhuni begs thread from a relative, and weaves it herself, or has a relative weave it, there is no offense in begging for it. If she weaves it herself, she commits a dukkaṭa. If she has a relative weave it, there is no offense. If she has a non-relative weave it and it is finished, she commits a nissaggiya pācittiya. There is no offense for the first offender, etc. The fourteenth nissaggiya pācittiya is complete. The background story is in Savatthi. At that time, in Savatthi, Thullanandā aroused great faith in a female householder and the householder's family. That householder gave thread to a weaver for the sake of the bhikkhuni Thullanandā. Thullanandā heard about this from a female servant, and having heard, she went to where the weaver was, and having arrived, she said this: Weaver, do you know for whom this large piece of cloth that you are stretching the warp and weaving is for? He said this: I do not know. She said this: It is for me. Then, she demanded food from him in various ways, or just food, or she made efforts to obtain the means for food. At that time, some bhikkhunis who were content with little rebuked her. The bhikkhunis told the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus told the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, from "This happened" up to the laying down of the training rule, said: If for the sake of a bhikkhuni, a householder or a householder's wife has a non-relative weaver weave cloth, if that bhikkhuni, without having informed him beforehand, then has some thoughts, and says to the venerable weaver: Know that this cloth is for me. Venerable one, please weave this cloth wide, long, weave the weft thickly, and weave the warp well. If you do so, I will give you this, venerable one: food, or just food, or a small amount of food materials.
