The sixth Saṃghāṭiseṣa is complete. The incident occurred in Śrāvastī. From the occurrence of this incident until the establishment of the training rule, (the Buddha) did this: For the sake of a bhikkhunī, a householder or a householder's wife who is not a relative separately collects the price of cloth, thinking, "With these prices of cloth that we have separately collected, we will buy such separate cloths, and when the bhikkhunī named so-and-so comes, we will separately clothe her." If that bhikkhunī has not yet requested, but only some thoughts arise, she goes and says, "With those separate prices of cloth that you have separately collected for her sake, venerable ones, buy such cloth and such cloth separately, and combining the two, clothe her well with suitable cloth at the same time." Because of wanting to do good, if the cloth is made, it is a Saṃghāṭiseṣa offense. The order of offenses is: As before, this training rule should also be spoken in accordance. The only difference now is: From "separately" which means "one by one" to "because of wanting to do good," this is what should be done differently. The seventh Saṃghāṭiseṣa is complete. The incident occurred in Rājagṛha. The Blessed One sometimes established training rules common to bhikkhus, sometimes common to bhikkhunīs, and sometimes common to both. Here, the Blessed One made it common to both. When the Blessed One, in Rājagṛha, relying on Nanda, established the training rule of accepting karṣāpaṇas, those bhikkhunīs who wanted to learn followed it. Then, when the bhikkhunī Nanda begged for karṣāpaṇas from kings, great ministers, brahmins, and householders, those bhikkhunīs who were of few desires rebuked her. The bhikkhunīs spoke to the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus reported to the Blessed One. From the Blessed One's instruction until the establishment of the training rule, (the Buddha) did this: For the sake of a bhikkhunī, a king or a great minister or a brahmin or a householder or a town of

Or a person from a town, or a person from a village, or a wealthy person, or a merchant, or the messenger of a caravan leader is entrusted with the price of clothing. Then, that messenger, taking these prices of clothing, goes to the residence of that bhikkhuni, and upon arriving, says to that bhikkhuni: Holy Mother, please be aware. The king, or a great minister, or a Brahmin, or a householder, or a person from a town, or a person from a village, or a wealthy person, or a merchant, or a certain caravan leader has entrusted you with the price of clothing. Holy Mother, please accept these prices of clothing with compassion. The bhikkhuni says to the messenger these words: Messenger with long life, bhikkhunis are not allowed to accept the price of clothing. We will only accept it if we obtain suitable clothing in due time. If the messenger says to the bhikkhuni: Who are the attendants of the Holy Mothers? Who do the Holy Mothers accept service from? The bhikkhuni who desires clothing should indicate to these messengers: These are the attendants of the bhikkhunis. Or indicate the steward of the monastery, or indicate the lay attendant. Then, that messenger should go to where the attendant is, and upon arriving, say to the attendant: Attendant with long life, please be aware. For the sake of a bhikkhuni like this, the king or (omitting the repeated content in the middle) the caravan leader has entrusted these prices of clothing. Attendant, with these prices of clothing, buy such and such clothes, and when the bhikkhuni named so-and-so comes, give her suitable clothes to wear in due time. Then, the messenger instructs the attendant very well and correctly, and after correctly instructing, goes to where the bhikkhuni is, and upon arriving, says to the bhikkhuni: The attendant of the Holy Mothers, I have correctly instructed the person who instructs the attendant. You go to him, and he will give you suitable clothes to wear in due time. The bhikkhuni who desires clothing should also go to where the attendant is, and upon arriving, with long life
