One should speak pleasing words. The noble lady will receive a large piece of cloth from the prince. Then, Bhomga went to that house and said to the householder and the householder's wife: Householder, look at the large piece of cloth that you want to give to me. Okay. Then, the householder took out that large piece of cloth and gave it to Bhomga. When Bhomga saw that thick large piece of cloth, her face changed, and she folded her hands. The two of them then said: Holy mother, what's wrong? She then said: Virtuous one, do you think this is good? Householder, if I divide this and wear it to various places, and people ask me, from whom did you get these clothes? I would be ashamed, how should I answer? The two of them then said: Holy mother, we only have this, we don't have anything else. She then said: Householder, I will teach you. How to do it? She then said: Householder, sell this large piece of cloth, and add a little more money, and it will become even better. The wife also said: Do as the prince does. Then, she went to the market, agreed on a time with the merchant, and took a better piece of cloth on credit and wore it. Then, when the merchant seized that merchant after the time was up, and others saw it, and when they were being blamed, the nuns reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, from the beginning of this event, until the establishment of the precepts, for the sake of the nuns, if the householder or the householder's wife is not a relative, and becomes poor because of the price of the clothes, and even there, that nun, as if she had not asked before, only gave rise to some discriminations, and went and said: You have become poor for my sake because of the price of the clothes, with those prices of clothes, buy clothes like this and like that, please put on suitable clothes for me at the appropriate time. If she says such a thing, because she wants good things, if the clothes are made, she commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. The nun, that is, Bhomga. Non-relative, that is, the former.

Thus it is. "The price of the cloth" means silver and gold. "Contaminated" means that the price of my cloth, that is, with this silver and gold, is manifestly accumulated. "Such and such" means to buy such a cloth from any of the seven cloths. "This bhikkhuni" means Stubby Delightful Woman. "If it comes" means if it comes. "Give" means to offer. "Cloth" means any of the seven. "Suitable time" means suitable for enjoyment. There, "that bhikkhuni" means Stubby Delightful Woman. "Without having sought before" means not having sought for the sake of meaning before. "Only some discrimination arises" means only some discrimination arises. "You for her sake" means oneself closely showing. "If the cloth is obtained" means if it is obtained. "Abandonment expiation" means as before. How does one fall into transgression? It is from value, color, and measurement. How does one fall from value? A bhikkhuni goes to the householder or the householder's wife, who is not a relative, and gives cloth worth five karshapanas and takes cloth worth five karshapanas, there is no transgression. If one asks for more, there is a misdeed in asking. If one obtains it, it is an abandonment expiation. Likewise, it should be said up to the value of twenty karshapanas. Such is falling from value. How does one fall from color? A bhikkhuni goes to the householder or the householder's wife, who is not a relative, and gives whatever blue cloth there is and takes blue cloth, there is no transgression. If one asks for yellow, there is a misdeed in asking. If one obtains it, it is an abandonment expiation. For blue, as appropriate, for yellow, red, dark, and light, as before. Such is falling from color. How does one fall from measurement? A bhikkhuni goes to the householder or the householder's wife, who is not a relative, and gives a large piece of cloth of five cubits and takes a large piece of cloth of five cubits, there is no transgression. If one takes more, there is a misdeed in asking. If one obtains it, it is an abandonment expiation. It is the same up to twenty cubits. Abandonment.
