Yellow, red, and white should also be mentioned. If a bhikkhuni goes to a householder or a householder's wife who is not a relative and asks for white cloth, she commits a dukkaṭa when asking. If she obtains it, she commits a nissaggiya pācittiya. If she obtains blue, there is no offense. Similarly, white, yellow, and red should also be mentioned; this is like the aspect of color. How is it like the aspect of measurement? Again, if any bhikkhuni goes to a householder or a householder's wife who is not a relative and asks for a five-cubit cloth, she commits a dukkaṭa when asking. If she obtains it, she commits a nissaggiya pācittiya. If she asks for a five-cubit cloth and obtains a six-cubit cloth, there is no offense. Similarly, asking for a ten-cubit cloth and an eleven-cubit cloth, and similarly, obtaining a twenty-cubit cloth and a twenty-one-cubit cloth, and similarly, asking up to ten cubits and not obtaining cloth, and not asking for cloth but obtaining woolen material, there is no offense. The fourth nissaggiya pācittiya is complete. The origin is in Shravasti. At that time, bhikkhunis in Shravasti were robbed by thieves. Then, the twelve groups of Delightful Maidens, Near Delightful Maidens, and Plump Delightful Maidens went to the homes of Brahmins and householders for their sake and collected a great many cloths. After collecting them, they had them offered. When the bhikkhunis with few desires rebuked them, the bhikkhunis reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, from "this happened" to "establishing the training," said that if a bhikkhuni's robe is robbed, lost, burned, or carried away by water, she should go to a householder or a householder's wife who is not a relative and ask for a robe. If Brahmins and faithful householders give a great many robes, if she wishes, that bhikkhuni should take at most a sanghati and an undergarment from those robes. If she takes more than that, she commits a nissaggiya pācittiya. "Robbed of a robe" means that thieves or deceitful people robbed her of those robes. "Asking" means by herself or through others. "If to her" means to that bhikkhuni.
