If asked why, it is because the bhikkhuni wants clothes. These messengers are the ones who take advice from the bhikkhunis. Or it should be explained that it is the monastery's benefactor or a layperson who is giving advice. Then, the messenger should go to where the advisor is, and upon arriving, say to the advisor: Venerable one, please know about the matter of advice. For the sake of a bhikkhuni like this, people from the king to the caravan leader have sent these prices for clothes. Advisor, with these prices for clothes, buy such and such clothes, and then have the bhikkhuni named so-and-so come, and in due time, put suitable clothes on her. Then, the messenger should admonish the advisor very well, correctly instruct him, and then go to where the bhikkhuni is, and upon arriving, say to the bhikkhuni: Mothers, I have correctly instructed how to receive advice, please go to him, and he will put suitable clothes on you in due time. This is what should be said. The bhikkhuni who wants clothes should also go to where the advisor is, and upon arriving, say: Venerable advisor, I want clothes! Venerable advisor, I want clothes! She should repeatedly request two or three times, and remind him. If she goes two or three times, repeatedly requests and reminds him, if the clothes are made, that is good. If they are not made, she should sit there silently, up to a maximum of four, five, or six times. If she sits there silently, up to a maximum of four to six times, if the clothes are made, that is good. If they are not made, if she strives to obtain more clothes and obtains them, she commits a nissaggiya pācittiya offense. If they are not made, the bhikkhuni should personally go to the place from which the price of the clothes came. Or, from a trusted messenger, learn that the price of the clothes you sent for the bhikkhuni named so-and-so, those prices for clothes, did not accomplish anything for that bhikkhuni, please know.
