How should it be done? He said, "Householder, add a little to the price of this large cloth, and it will become even better." The wife also said, "Prince, do it that way." He went to the market, made an appointment with a merchant, borrowed a fine large cloth, and wore it. Then, when that merchant seized that merchant upon the expiration of the time, and others saw it and began to scold, the bhikshunis reported it to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, starting from "This happened," and up to the establishment of the precepts, for the sake of the bhikshunis, if it is not a householder or the wife of a householder who is a relative, and the price of the cloth becomes an offering, and there, that bhikshuni, without having requested it before, only generates some discriminations, and then goes and says, "With the price of the cloth that you have offered for me, buy such and such clothes, and please give me suitable clothes to wear in due time." If she says this, and if the cloth is obtained for the sake of wanting good things, it is a patayantika. The so-called bhikshuni is Thullananda. The so-called non-relative is the same as before. The so-called price of the cloth is silver and gold. The so-called offering is that which is manifestly assembled, saying, "With these silver and gold, the price of my cloth." The so-called such and such are to buy such clothes from any of the seven cloths. The so-called this bhikshuni is Thullananda. The so-called come is come. The so-called wear is give. The so-called cloth is any of the seven. The so-called suitable time is that which is suitable for enjoyment. There, that bhikshuni is Thullananda. The so-called not requested before is not sought for a purpose before. The so-called only some discriminations arise is that only some thoughts arise. The so-called you for me is referring to oneself. The so-called obtaining the cloth is obtaining it. The so-called patayantika is the same as before. So, how does one fall?

If there is a change, it comes from value, color, and size. How does it come from value? A bhikkhuni goes to a householder or the wife of a householder who is not a relative, gives cloth worth five karshapanas, and takes back cloth worth five karshapanas, there is no offense. If she asks for more, when asking, she commits a misdeed. If she obtains it, it is a nissaggiya pacittiya. Similarly, it should be said up to the value of twenty karshapanas, that is how it comes from value. How does it come from color? A bhikkhuni goes to a householder or the wife of a householder who is not a relative, gives whatever blue cloth there is, and takes back blue cloth, there is no offense. If she asks for yellow, when asking, she commits a misdeed. If she obtains it, it is a nissaggiya pacittiya. For blue, as with yellow, red, dark, and light, it is the same as before, that is how it comes from color. How does it come from size? A bhikkhuni goes to a householder or the wife of a householder who is not a relative, gives a large piece of cloth of five cubits, and takes back a large piece of cloth of five cubits, there is no offense. If she takes back more, when asking, she commits a misdeed. If she obtains it, it is a nissaggiya pacittiya. It is the same up to twenty cubits. The sixth nissaggiya pacittiya is complete. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. From this event until the establishment of the precept, (the Buddha) did this: For the sake of the bhikkhunis, a householder or the wife of a householder who is not a relative each collected the value of cloth, thinking, 'With these values of cloth that we have each collected, we will buy such individual cloths, and when the bhikkhuni named so-and-so comes, we will each dress her in cloth.'

This basis should also be said to be in accordance. Now, the difference of "men" is this: from "each" meaning "every one" to "for the sake of wanting good," this is what should be distinguished. The seventh Saṃghāṭāvaśeṣa is complete. The topic of discussion is in Rājagṛha. The Blessed One sometimes established the training ground common to monks, sometimes common to nuns, and sometimes common to both. Here, the Blessed One made it common to both. When the Blessed One, relying on Nanda in Rājagṛha, established the training ground for accepting Karṣāpaṇas, those nuns who wanted to learn followed suit. Then, when the nun Nanda begged for Karṣāpaṇas from kings, ministers, Brahmins, and householders, those nuns with few desires began to scold. At that time, the nuns spoke to the monks, and the monks reported to the Blessed One. From the Blessed One's teachings to the establishment of the training ground, the Blessed One, for the sake of the nuns, had the price of clothing sent in the hands of messengers of kings, ministers, Brahmins, householders, townspeople, villagers, wealthy people, merchants, or caravan leaders. Then, that messenger took these prices of clothing and went to that nun, and upon arriving, said to that nun: "Holy Mother, please be aware, a king, minister, Brahmin, householder, townsperson, villager, wealthy person, merchant, or so-and-so caravan leader has sent you the price of clothing. Holy Mother, please kindly accept these prices of clothing." If he says so, that nun says to that messenger: "Venerable messenger, nuns are not allowed to accept the price of clothing. We can only accept it if we get suitable clothing in time." If that messenger says to that nun: "What is the instruction of the Holy Mothers? What is the acceptance of the instruction by the Holy Mothers?"
