Just as they filled the house day by day, the house also grew larger and larger. Then, the Brahmin, like a great Sala tree, the Nyagrodha, thought: If I had a son, would he, like other ordinary Brahmins, take ordinary grains and spread victory to King Padma Chenpo? Or should I have golden grains made for him? Thinking this, after a while, he had golden grains made. After eight or nine months, he gave birth to a handsome boy, lovely and beautiful to look at, as white as the color of a lotus root, with a head like an umbrella, long arms, a wide forehead, beautiful eyebrows, a chin like a lion, an upper body like a lion, and broad shoulders. To celebrate his birth, they began to prepare a celebration, having all the stones, tiles, and pebbles around the Nyagrodha tree cleared away, sprinkling the ground with sandalwood water, arranging various flowers, fumigating with various fragrances, hanging flags and banners, stretching silk ribbons and decorations, and having shops selling goods set up. At the four gates and in the center of the crossroads, they gave alms and performed virtuous deeds, giving food to those who wanted food, drink to those who wanted drink, clothes to those who wanted clothes, and garlands, incense, and ointments to those who wanted garlands, incense, and ointments. Like this, for twenty-one days, they gave various kinds of alms and performed virtuous deeds, and relatives gathered together and said: Because this child was obtained by praying to the Nyagrodha tree, let the child be named Nyagrodha-born. The Brahmins said: Because his father also shares the same lineage as Od-srung (Light Protector), let the child be named Od-srung. Some knew him as Od-srung, and some knew him as Nyagrodha-born. He was entrusted to eight nurses, two nurses who held him and fed him, two nurses who nursed him, two nurses who wiped away dirt, and two playmates, guarding him with iron spears and holding many peacock feathers.

Ghee, yogurt, fresh butter, clarified butter, the essence of butter, and other essential utensils are used to nourish and make him grow. Like a lotus growing in a pond, he grew very quickly. When he became older, he was taught to read and write. In a few days, he mastered the letters. At that time, he became skilled in the customs, conduct, cleanliness, daily practices, taking ashes, taking water pots, taking earth, praising, scattering drinks, reciting, accurately measuring, determining, approaching at the right time, the Vedas of definite speech, the Vedas of sacrifice, the Vedas of poetry, the Vedas of governance, and the six professions of Brahmins: performing sacrifices, causing others to perform sacrifices, reading, causing others to read, giving, and receiving. He also became skilled in the eighteen branches of knowledge, namely: secret mantras, tantras, detailed rituals, logic, Vedas, grammar, correct combination of sounds, clarity of knowledge, determination of meanings, abbreviation of poetry, astrology, epistemology, water divination, great conduct, world remote viewing, specific learning, sixty tantras, dazzling learning, and the learning of abiding. He became very intelligent in all these eighteen branches of knowledge. Soon, the Brahmin had five hundred celibate Brahmin boys recite everything they had heard, and he listened to his father's words and did as he was told. Then, the Brahmin Nyagrodha, like a great Sala tree, thought: My lineage is great, and I possess a great amount of wealth. In a family like this, sons should not be born without a reason. The custom of Brahmins is to completely observe celibacy for forty-eight years, and then in old age to play, rejoice, and be happy with a young wife.

If it is to be done, I should have arranged a marriage for my son from the very beginning. Thinking thus, he said to Nyagrodha-born: Son, this is the law of the world, for the sake of lineage, you should take a wife. He said: Father, what kind of wife do I need? I will dwell in the forest of asceticism. The father repeatedly urged him, saying that the lineage should be maintained. He thought to himself: Then, by what means can I both not break the command of my parents, and also not be united with a woman? Thinking thus, he said to his father: Father, I need Jambunada gold. He summoned the treasurer and said: Give this Nyagrodha-born as much Jambunada gold as he needs. The treasurer said: As you command. Then, the Brahmin boy Nyagrodha-born secretly summoned a well-learned goldsmith from his father, and had him make a statue of a woman out of Jambunada gold. He presented it to his father and said: Father, if a girl like this statue can be found, she will be my wife. Other than that, I do not need any other wife. He thought to himself: It seems that this son is not thinking of us. Even an ordinary golden girl is hard to find, let alone one made of Jambunada gold? He was displeased in his heart. The Brahmin boys saw it and went to him and asked: Teacher, why are you unhappy? He told them in detail about the plan to get a wife for his son, saying: It seems that Pus is not thinking of me. For the time being, it is difficult to find even an ordinary golden girl, how is it possible? Let alone a statue made of Jambunada gold? How could it appear? They said to him: Teacher, please do not be unhappy. For whatever kind of man appears, there will be abundant resources that match him.
