Then they instructed, "We should also show those to this noble beggar." After thinking this, they said to that monk, "Please come to this house, you will get alms." After he went, the merchant's wife saw him and thought, "This is a person with a thin neck, weak body, and wearing ragged robes." She did not give him alms, and he came out from there. Those maids also came back after filling the water jugs, and they saw that the bowl was empty. They asked, "Didn't you come to this house?" He said, "I came, but I didn't get alms." They took him back again, and they said to the mistress, "Why didn't you give alms to this person?" She said, "I don't believe in this person." They said, "Did the master instruct you to give only if the complexion is good and you believe?" She said, "It's useless to say more since I don't believe in this person." The maid thought, "If I hold this monk and bring him back twice, now I should decide how to let him go." After thinking this, she said to the mistress, "Please give me my new rice." She gave it, and that maid took a small container of flour for daytime meals and offered it to him. She also thought, "This noble one is being despised because he is wearing ragged robes, I should offer him my cloth." After thinking this, she also offered him a white cloth. That solitary Buddha also thought, "I should make him accumulate a lot of merit." In order to generate his faith, like a swan king spreading its wings, he rose to the center of the sky. As soon as she saw him, her mind became devout, and with a joyful, satisfied, and happy mind, she knelt on the ground and prostrated at his feet, thinking, "Whatever slight contempt there is for this noble one is also caused by his bad complexion." Then she made a prayer, "Alala, with this root of virtue of completely giving up the Dharma to be given by me, wherever I am born, in that श्रेष्ठ (Tibetan: གང་དང་གང་དུ་སྐྱེས་པའི་ཆེ་རབས་དེ་དང་དེར།, Sanskrit Devanagari: श्रेष्ठ, Sanskrit Romanization: śreṣṭha, Chinese literal meaning: श्रेष्ठ) of श्रेष्ठ (Tibetan: གང་དང་གང་དུ་སྐྱེས་པའི་ཆེ་རབས་དེ་དང་དེར།, Sanskrit Devanagari: श्रेष्ठ, Sanskrit Romanization: śreṣṭha, Chinese literal meaning: श्रेष्ठ), may my body be beautiful, my complexion be good, and very pleasing to look at. May I never have a bad neck and complexion." That's what she did. At that time

A prince was surrounded by a group of ministers, and hundreds and thousands of people were also surrounding him. Above them, the shadow of a Pratyekabuddha fell. He looked up and saw a Pratyekabuddha wearing Dharma robes, holding a piece of cloth, a water pot, and a black bowl, walking alone and beautifully in the sky. He thought to himself: "Such a great person, wherever he receives offerings, that place must have great power and benefit." Thinking this, he said: "Today, whoever offers him food, I will give him the best city." The merchant was also gathered in that crowd, and he thought to himself: "I will offer all the food." He instructed his household: "Don't let anyone else offer food from my house first, go and see." Thinking this, he stood up and quickly went home. His wife also saw the miraculous power of the Pratyekabuddha, and faith arose in her heart. She said to the maidservant: "Maidservant, this merit should be mine. I will give you the best food as a reward." The maidservant said to her: "You are the mistress, and you can control my life, but you cannot control merit, so I cannot give it to you." She became very angry and argued incessantly, hitting her head with her wrist adorned with bracelets. The bracelets struck her head, causing it to break and bleed. At this time, the merchant also returned and asked her what had happened. She told him in detail what had happened. The merchant became very angry, adorned the maidservant with all kinds of jewelry, placed her in the house, and then told the king what had happened. The king said: "She should have been the mistress, you have done well. If you had not done so, I would have made her no longer a maidservant. But I will give her the best city." He gained faith, found opportunities, gave to monks, Brahmins, and merchants, accumulated merit, kept the precepts, and at the time of death, was reborn among the gods of the Thirty-Three Heavens.
