It is said in the sutra: Wherever one may be, there is no place where one can escape the bonds of karma. Such a place does not exist; it is not in the sky, not in the ocean, nor even in the crevices of mountains. Furthermore, other deities say: Just as a shadow follows a person, sitting when the person sits, moving when the person moves, similarly, good and non-good follow like shadows. This is the supreme truth spoken by the Buddha. Then, the daughter of Serkya (Sravasti), Zangmo (Bhadra), with various kinds of Dharma teachings that attracted the heart of King Mageskye Dra (Ajatashatru), correctly showed, caused to correctly grasp, correctly praised, and made him exceedingly joyful. Then, she manifestly ascended into the sky and returned to the nuns' summer retreat. Furthermore, the twelve groups said this: "We will not perform the Uposatha with the degenerate nuns." When they said this, the nuns spoke to the monks. The monks also reported to the Bhagavan. Then, the Bhagavan thought, "Both of my Sanghas will understand the meaning, and the foundation of what I have established will also become perfect." Therefore, because of this event, this origin, this thing, this circumstance, the Bhagavan convened both Sanghas. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, act knowingly; they act knowingly, not unknowingly; they act at the right time, not at the wrong time; they act with meaning, not without meaning. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are like this: for speech that is without meaning, they stop it with a water wheel. Therefore, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are like this: for speech that has meaning, they know the time. The Bhagavan asked Zangmo, the daughter of Serkya: "Nun, is it true that you did such a thing?" She replied: "Bhagavan, no." The Bhagavan asked again: "Nun, did you not possess it?" She answered thus: "Bhagavan, I am naturally free from desire, why should I possess it?" The Bhagavan said: "This is not in accordance with the conduct of a Shramana, not in accordance, not suitable, not in accordance with the rules, it is extremely unreasonable."

He condemned it, saying it was not something to be done. Then, after the Blessed One had condemned it in many ways, he addressed both sanghas, saying: "Monks and nuns, therefore, there are these ten benefits: for the sake of gathering the sangha, for the sake of making the sangha good, for the sake of making the sangha harmonious, for the sake of making the sangha dwell in peace, for the sake of subduing those who are disrespectful, for the sake of making those who are ashamed dwell in peace, for the sake of making the unbelieving have faith, for the sake of making those who have faith increase and grow, for the sake of restraining the defilements of this life, for the sake of averting the defilements of future lives, for the sake of following the ব্রহ্মচर्या (brahmacarya,梵文天城体:ब्रह्मचर्य,梵文罗马拟音:brahmacarya,汉语字面意思:梵行), for the sake of perfecting the ব্রহ্মচर्या (brahmacarya,梵文天城体:ब्रह्मचर्य,梵文罗马拟音:brahmacarya,汉语字面意思:梵行), for the sake of making the doctrine harmonious, and seeing that my doctrine is vast, beneficial to many beings, truly revealed to gods and humans, and will last a long time, the basis of training for the nuns in the Vinaya should be established. My nuns should recite the basis of training in the Vinaya as follows: Furthermore, any nun who, together with the nuns, has the same training, has not renounced the precepts, has not violated the precepts, and engages in impure conduct, even with an animal, that nun has committed a defeat and should not dwell [with the sangha]. Furthermore, what is a nun? There are four kinds of nuns: name nun, self-proclaimed nun, nun for the sake of begging, and nun for the sake of subduing afflictions. What is a name nun? One who is called a nun by words, name, second word, epithet, concept, appellation, designation, or term, or a member of the nun's lineage, or one who is similar to a nun, is called a name nun. What is a self-proclaimed nun? One who is not a nun but claims to be a nun, lives by stealing, and also
