One who claims to be a Bhikṣuṇī, that is, one who professes to be a Bhikṣuṇī, is called a professing Bhikṣuṇī. What is a Bhikṣuṇī for the sake of begging? That is, those who possess Dharma and live by begging are called Bhikṣuṇīs for the sake of begging. What is a Bhikṣuṇī for the sake of destroying afflictions? That is, those who have abandoned all the outflows that cause affliction, cause rebirth, are accompanied by disease, ripen into suffering, and cause future birth, aging, and death, and who have completely known, completely cut off from the root, made the foundation invisible like the head of a palm tree, and become beings who will not be reborn in the future, are called Bhikṣuṇīs for the sake of destroying afflictions. Here, Bhikṣuṇī refers to those who have received full ordination through four karmas that do not regress. This is also called a Bhikṣuṇī. "Together with the Bhikṣuṇīs" means with those who are different from them, who are in accordance with the Dharma, and who practice celibacy in the same way. "Equal in discipline" means that the discipline that a Bhikṣuṇī who has been fully ordained for a hundred years should practice is the same as that of one who has just been fully ordained, and that whatever is newly fully ordained is the same as one who has been fully ordained for a hundred years. Here, "equal in discipline" means equal in morality itself, equal in the training itself, and equal in reciting the Prātimokṣa Sūtra. This is called "equal in discipline," therefore it is said "equal in discipline." "Having become" means "having gone." Regarding "not having given the precepts," in what circumstances is it called "not having given the precepts"? For example, if a Bhikṣuṇī gives the precepts in anger or being overwhelmed by anger, it should be said that the precepts were not given. If one gives the precepts while insane, mentally disturbed, or afflicted by feelings, it should be said that the precepts were not given. If one gives the precepts in the presence of someone who is angry or overwhelmed by anger, it should be said that the precepts were not given. If one gives the precepts in the presence of a foolish Bhikṣuṇī, it should be said that the precepts were not given. Like a foolish person, for a deaf-mute, a deaf person, a sleepy person, one in samadhi, an image of a deity, and an old person

If instruction is given in the presence of an illusory image, as well as non-humans, emanations, or those who have become animals, it should be stated that instruction has not been given. If a central person gives instruction to a central person in a border language, and if the central person does not know the border language, it should be stated that instruction has not been given. Similarly, if a border person gives instruction to a border person in the central language, and if the border person does not know the central language, it should be stated that instruction has not been given. If a border person gives instruction to a central person in a border language, and if the central person does not know the border language, it should be stated that instruction has not been given. If a central person gives instruction to a border person in a central language, and if the border person does not know the central language, it should be stated that instruction has not been given. If instruction is given in a solitary place with the perception of non-solitude, it should be stated that instruction has not been given. If instruction is given in a non-solitary place with the perception of solitude, it should be stated that instruction has not been given. If a noisy person gives instruction to a noisy person, it should be stated that instruction has not been given. If someone wishing to give instruction does so without informing some of the truly abiding nuns, it should be stated that instruction has not been given. Thus it is said, this is called not having given instruction. The Discrimination of Nuns, Volume Three, in what is called Not Having Violated the Precepts, there are those who have violated the precepts and have not received instruction, those who have not violated the precepts and have received instruction, those who have violated the precepts and have received instruction, and those who have not violated the precepts and have not received instruction. Under what circumstances is it called having violated the precepts and not having received instruction? For example, wanting to be close to a nun, or being displeased, or wanting to wander and not seeking the Dharma of a renunciate, or being lazy in the Dharma of a renunciate, or being ill, or doubting, or a slanderer, coming near to the nuns and saying: Noble mothers, celibacy is difficult to practice, extreme solitude is difficult to achieve, being content alone is difficult to achieve, the dwelling place is a solitary place, the edge of the forest,
