Please accept the sewn cloth of a large piece of fabric for the sake of play. After praying thus, the Blessed One said to the venerable Kashyapa: Kashyapa, give me one of the clothes from the wiping cloth. After saying this, Kashyapa said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, please accept the sewn cloth of a large piece of fabric. Sugata, please accept the sewn cloth of a large piece of fabric. Venerable, I will take the clothes from the Blessed One's wiping cloth. Then, the Blessed One accepted the sewn cloth of a large piece of fabric from the venerable Kashyapa. The Blessed One also gave him the wiping cloth from his own hand. Then, the venerable Kashyapa, filled with instructions, studied and fully enjoyed the food for eight days. On the ninth day, he no longer studied. Then, the venerable Kashyapa Arhat, free from the desire of the three realms, regarded tiles and gold as equal, possessed a mind as undifferentiated as the sky and the palm of his hand, like being immersed in sandalwood, broke the shell of the egg of ignorance, obtained wisdom, supernormal powers, discriminating wisdom, and complete discriminating wisdom, no longer clinging to the gains of existence and desire, retreated from reverence, and was regarded by the gods, including the independent and near-independent ones, as an object of painting, offering, and worship. Then, some said: Alas, the monk Kashyapa realized such a great distinction, and his name became Great Kashyapa, called Great Kashyapa. Then, the Blessed One gradually traveled around and arrived at Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir, Bihar), staying in the Kalanda bird in the bright garden of Rajagriha. At that time, Rajagriha was holding a festival where mountains and beauty met. All the heretics gathered there, and no demons were absent. Soon after, the naked heretics also entered Rajagriha. Then, the daughter of Shravasti, Subhadra, thought, who would endure suffering for so long and enter Rajagriha for alms, this is my time. Then, she

I thought I would find an opportunity because of trust, so I went to Rajagriha under the pretext of begging. The Venerable Mahakashyapa also put on his lower garment in the morning, and carrying his Dharma robe and alms bowl, entered Rajagriha for alms. He saw a Shakya woman named Bhadra, who was beautiful and radiant, but had become a prostitute. Having seen her, he said, "Sister, have you completely guarded the true Brahmacharya?" She said, "Prince, only by living in your house could I practice Brahmacharya. Now I can only practice non-Brahmacharya, there is no Brahmacharya." He said, "Sister, in order to abide in Brahmacharya, would you like to go forth in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya?" When she said this, the Shakya woman Bhadra said to the Venerable Mahakashyapa, "Prince, do you also have no desires?" After a while, the Venerable Mahakashyapa began to think, and he saw that those wrongly spoken Dharmas and evil Dharmas were connected to non-holy Dharmas. Recognizing that such a thing had happened, he said to the Shakya woman Bhadra, "Sister, do not be afraid! The teachings of the Bhagavan are without defilement and impurity, and without sin. His Shravakas do not even seek the desires of the gods, let alone the desires of humans!" He completely entrusted her to Mahaprajapati, and Mahaprajapati ordained her and gave her full ordination. When she went for alms, those deceitful, lewd, and hypocritical people mocked her, saying, "Such an ugly body is happy without enjoyment." Then, at another time, the Venerable Mahakashyapa put on his lower garment in the morning, and carrying his Dharma robe and alms bowl, entered Rajagriha for alms. The Shakya woman Bhadra also put on her lower garment in the morning, and carrying her Dharma robe and alms bowl, entered Rajagriha for alms, and the Venerable Mahakashyapa saw the Shakya woman Bhadra.

Thus he spoke. Sister, are you delighted with the teachings of the Blessed One? She said: We are delighted with the teachings of the Blessed One, there is no non-delight. However, I am like a dyed sheep, this body has caused harm. Wherever I go, people ask me for pleasure. The venerable Mahakashyapa said: Do not be troubled for the sake of alms. I will give you half of my alms each day. She took the alms, half she enjoyed herself, and half she gave to her. When she lived like that, the group of six monks ridiculed, saying: Mahakashyapa, when he became a householder, lived with this beautiful woman in the same house for twelve years, but never had any lustful thoughts, but now he gives her alms. Then, the venerable Mahakashyapa instructed the good woman of Shravasti to pay attention, and through diligence, effort, and exertion, she abandoned all defilements and realized the state of an Arhat. After a while, the venerable Mahakashyapa heard the monks ridiculing. Having heard this, he said to the good woman of Shravasti: Sister, whatever a spiritual friend should do, I have done. A wild animal does not feed a wild animal. Now go and follow your own conduct as permitted by the Buddha, increase merit in your father's territory, and continue to beg for alms. After teaching in this way, the venerable Mahakashyapa began to meditate on equanimity. At that time, Ajatashatru, relying on the evil friend Devadatta, killed his father, a king of Dharma, who possessed the Dharma, in order to seize the power of his father's kingdom. As soon as he sat on the throne, he felt remorse in his heart, and then entered the chamber of sorrow. Even though he could not dispel his sorrow by various means, the ministers thought that all the dancers, actors, clowns, acrobats, and musicians in these six great cities should be gathered.
