In a short time, he entrusted five hundred Brahmin boys, Brahmins of pure conduct, to recite whatever they had heard, and he did so, listening to his father's words, and acted accordingly. Then the Brahmin, like a great Sala tree, Nyagrodha, thought thus: "My lineage is great, and I am endowed with vast wealth, but in such a household, without cause, the sons do not take up continuity. The custom of the Brahmins is to fully observe celibacy for forty-eight years, and then, in old age, to play with a young woman, to rejoice, and to enjoy pleasure. I shall take a wife for my son from the very beginning." Having thought thus, he spoke to the Nyagrodha-born one, "Son, this is the nature of things in the world, for the sake of the lineage, you should take a wife." He said, "Father, what need have I for a bosom? I shall dwell in the forest of asceticism." His father urged him repeatedly, saying that the lineage should be firmly established, and he thought thus: "How can I..."

Therefore, he thought, what way is there to not disobey my parents' command and also to not be united with a woman? So he thought like that and said to his father: Father, please find me some Jambu River gold. Then the person in charge of the treasury was ordered and said: Give this Nyagrodha youth as much Jambu River gold as he needs. The person in charge of the treasury said: So be it. Then the Brahmin boy Nyagrodha secretly called a well-trained goldsmith from his father and had him make a statue of a woman out of Jambu River gold. Then he offered it to his father and said: Father, if a girl like this statue can be found, then she would be my wife, but other than that, I don't need any other wife. He thought: It seems this son is not thinking of us, even an ordinary golden-colored girl is hard to find, let alone one made of Jambu River gold? So he was depressed in his heart. When the Brahmin boys saw this, they went to him and asked: Teacher, why are you so depressed? He then told them in detail about the son's marriage, saying: It seems this son is not thinking of me, it's hard to find even an ordinary golden-colored girl, how could it be possible? Let alone a statue made of Jambu River gold, how could it be found? They said to him: Teacher, please don't be unhappy. Whatever kind of man appears, abundant resources that match him will appear. Let's do this for now, please make three more such statues, and we will search in all four directions as if looking for treasure, so that we can find a girl. He listened to his students' words and thought: How can we go from house to house searching? Let's think of a way. So they devised a plan, and they went to villages, cities, towns, and all places.

Having entered there, they place an image in the center and make offerings with incense, flowers, incense, and the sound of music. If the girls pay homage to this goddess who has arrived, then she grants them five noble births, they will marry into noble families, they will live in very prosperous homes, their families will also be under their control, and they will also be blessed with sons. They also speak these words. Having heard those words, the group of girls, including old women and young women, make offerings and pay homage, and also pray. After a while, those who dug in the east, south, and north directions arrived without fulfilling their wishes. Having seen those, the Brahmin great Sala tree Nyagrodha understood in his heart. The Brahmin boy Nyagrodha was born and was delighted and very happy, saying, "It would be good if I hadn't found it." Those Brahmin boys who carried the goddess of girls and dug to the west eventually traveled through villages, towns, suburbs, and the king's palace, and arrived at the city of Kapilavastu in the grove of Kapilavastu. There also lived a Brahmin named Serkya, who was rich, had much wealth, had great enjoyment, had a vast and extensive territory, possessed the wealth of Vaishravana, and rivaled the wealth of Vaishravana. He took a wife from the same caste and played with her, rejoiced, and enjoyed himself. At another time, a being entered his wife. After eight or nine months had passed, she gave birth to a daughter who was beautiful, pleasing to the eye, and lovely. Her relatives gathered together and gave alms and performed virtuous deeds for twenty-one days, and then gave her a name. In the central region, according to custom, whoever is beautiful is called "Bhadra," so they say, "This girl is beautiful, pleasing to the eye, and lovely, and her father is also called Serkya, so this girl will also be called Serkya's daughter 'Bhadra.'"
