The two groups, having eaten what they obtained in one place, then eat in another place as well. When they eat having abandoned and not abandoned in this way, the nuns with little learning rebuke them. At that time, they reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, from "This occurred," and so on, made it up to the establishment of the precepts. Furthermore, if any nun, having eaten and then abandoned, mixes or eats what is to be eaten and what is edible, she commits an offense of downfall. Furthermore, "who" refers to the twelve groups. "Having eaten and then" means having abandoned in one place and then breaking the conduct. "What is to be eaten and what is edible" refers to the five things to be eaten and the five things that are edible. "Mixes or eats" means secretly swallowing with the mouth. "Commits an offense of downfall" is as before. How does one commit an offense of downfall in this case? If a nun, with the thought of having abandoned, mixes or eats what has been abandoned, she commits an offense of downfall. Likewise, if she eats with doubt, she commits an offense of downfall. If a nun, with the thought of having abandoned, mixes or eats what has not been abandoned, she commits an offense of wrong-doing. Likewise, if she eats with doubt, she commits an offense of wrong-doing. The eighth of the twentieth offense of downfall is complete. The basis of the story is in Shravasti. Then, the stout joyful mother put on her lower garment in the morning, took her bowl and robes, and went out for alms. She entered the house of a householder, and the wife of that householder had given birth to a son, but she did not know how to wash the child herself. Then, the stout joyful mother said, "O auspicious one, please give alms." She said, "O venerable one, I do not like to learn." The stout joyful mother said, "Why? No one has washed my child." The stout joyful mother said, "Why do you not know how to wash?" The stout joyful mother said, "Are you also like a shuttle, having only one skill?" She said, "O venerable one, I have a little knowledge of this." The stout joyful mother said, "In which of the crafts and skills is she not a little knowledgeable?" She said, "O venerable one, please wash my child." Then, the stout joyful mother said, "Who will give me alms?" She said

So! I offer to the Bhikshuni who follows accordingly, I offer to the Abbess and the householder's wife. Then, Pūrṇā placed down the alms bowl, wiped the clothes clean, and picked up the child. After walking around for a short while, she washed and rubbed the child with clay underneath, then washed with warm water, applied eye medicine to the eyes, drew a tilaka with clarified butter, combed the hair, nourished it with honey and butter, put it in a swaddling cloth, lulled it to sleep, and instructed, saying: 'You should bathe like this every day.' After that, she raised the burden of alms and went to the summer house. Then that householder came and said to his wife: 'Good woman, it is good that you bathed the child today.' From 'Ogha' to 'Pūrṇā washed,' and up to 'offered a great amount of alms.' Then, at another time, Mahā-prajāpatī Gautamī, in the morning, put on her lower garment, took her alms bowl and robes, and entered the householder's house for alms, saying: 'Auspicious woman, give alms.' She said: 'Venerable Mother, please bathe my child.' Then Mahā-prajāpatī said: 'Sister, she has bathed a Bodhisattva, but has not bathed any other child besides that. Sister, by asking a Bhikshuni who is endowed with morality, are you accumulating the karma to become a slave again?' Even so, sister, how have you seen or heard of a Bhikshuni bathing a child?' She said: 'Venerable Mother, Pūrṇā washed him.' Mahā-prajāpatī said: 'It is because of her that we have encountered this situation.' At that time, the Bhikshunis reported to the Blessed One. Then the Blessed One, from the occurrence of this event up to the establishment of the precepts, said: 'If any Bhikshuni takes a child, it is a downfall.' 'Any' refers to Pūrṇā. 'Child' refers to a small child. 'Takes' refers to playing. 'It is a downfall' refers to the same as above. So, how does it become a downfall? The Bhikshuni
