Therefore, they instructed the cook again, "Come earlier tomorrow morning." After that, Spomdagamo put on her skirt in the morning, took her Dharma robes and bowl, and entered the village for alms. She entered the house of a householder and said, "Auspicious lady, please give alms." The person replied, "Holy mother, I am not in a good mood." Spomdagamo asked, "Why are you unhappy?" The person explained the reason in detail and then asked, "Why don't you cook yourself?" The person replied, "I am not good at it." Then, Spomdagamo said to the householder's wife, "Are you also like your husband, only able to do one kind of work?" The person replied, "Holy mother, do you know?" Spomdagamo said, "What crafts and works is she not skilled in?" Then, the householder's wife said to Spomdagamo, "Holy mother, now I beg you, please cook some food for me." Spomdagamo said, "Who will give her alms?" The householder's wife said, "Later I will support the female practitioners who follow me, I will support the teacher, I will support the female Khenpo, I will support up to the female housekeeper, later I will be poor." After saying this, she put the bowl and Dharma robes aside, changed into other clothes, starting from "She washed, rinsed, and grilled the dogle," filled it with ghee, and gradually cooked various foods, such as exquisite food, fruit food, Ladu, Kongtsangchen, Chekun, Rimgyapa, worm-shaped food, etc. She cooked these foods, causing half of the village to be filled with fragrance. Soon, half of the villagers came and asked, "Has a cook come to your house?" The person replied, "No, but Holy Mother Spomdagamo is cooking." Those people also came and pleaded, "Who will give her alms?" Those people...

They said, "We are poor because of managing household affairs." Similarly, Spondagamā cooked all the food for half the city. After cooking, she filled a bowl with it and went to the summer retreat. After that, the cook came and said at each door, "Ladies of the house, consorts, please enjoy the cooked food." They said, "We have already cooked." The cook said, "Who cooked it?" They said, "Spondagamā." In this way, everyone in half the town knew. They mocked, saying, "These Śākya's ascetics and the conduct of Brahmā are false. Why do they cut off their livelihood like this?" When those nuns of few desires were being reviled, they reported it to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, starting from "This happened," made the precepts. If any nun cooks raw food, she commits a downfall. The "any" refers to Spondagamā. "Cooking raw food" refers to cooking food. "Committing a downfall" means the same as before. So, how does it constitute a downfall? If a nun cooks even a little raw food, it all constitutes a downfall. Then, an urgent matter arose for the Sangha, and the Blessed One taught, "For the sake of the Sangha, living alone and cooking, there is no downfall." The first part of the ninth downfall is complete. The origin of the story is in Śrāvastī. At that time, a householder and his wife, together, went forth from home to homelessness, all the way to going to the summer retreat to see the nuns. When they were drinking porridge in the morning, that nun also held a water pot and sat in front. Then, that nun arrogantly said, "When I was a householder, you would sit in front of me like that." Then, she poured water from the pot on her head and said, "If I proclaim your virtues, will you engage in my faults?"

Having said that, she ran away. To this, the nuns said: Why did you throw water on the head of the leader of the Sangha? From this point on, until the time when those nuns with few desires rebuked, they reported to the Blessed One. After that, the Blessed One, starting from the occurrence of this event, all the way to the establishment of the precepts. Furthermore, any nun who throws water commits a downfall. Furthermore, "any" refers to this Dharma. "Leader of the Sangha" refers to the most excellent of the Sangha. "Throwing water" refers to water. "Commits a downfall" is the same as before. Regarding this, how does one commit a downfall? As long as a nun throws even a little water on the leader of the Sangha, she will completely commit a downfall. However, if one throws cool water on the face of someone who has fainted, there is no downfall. The second part of the ninth downfall is complete. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. At that time, not far from the summer residence, there was a green meadow. A Brahmin was having five hundred Brahmin boys recite the secret mantras of the Brahmins. After that, those Brahmin boys saw Spomgamo engaging in sexual activity and laughed at her. Spomgamo took medicine that would cause diarrhea, and as a result, she had a lot of diarrhea. She swept up the diarrhea and poured it on the green meadow. Her diarrhea contaminated all the green meadow. After that, the Brahmin boys came again and sat together. They said: Sons of Kudsa, sons of Badsa, sons of Bharadvaja, we smell a foul odor. After saying this, their hands, feet, and clothes were contaminated by the foul odor. The Brahmins are fond of cleanliness, so those Brahmin boys were sitting unhappily. After that, Spomgamo returned from begging for alms and saw those Brahmin boys sitting unhappily, and said: Brahmin boys, are you possessed by a ghost? She mocked, saying: How did you become like this? From this point on, until the time of rebuke, the nuns reported to the Blessed One. After that, the Blessed One, starting from the occurrence of this event, all the way to the establishment of the precepts.
