Thinking that the clothes were dirty, washing them, changing their color, patting them, etc. Then, the Blessed One, starting from "This happened," proceeded until the establishment of the training. Furthermore, if a bhikkhuni washes old clothes of a bhikkhu who is not a relative, or changes the color, or pats them, she commits a patayantika offense. Again, the bhikkhuni "who" refers to the one who conceals. "Not a relative" refers to the mother's grandparents and the father's grandparents, up to seven generations are relatives. Bhikkhuni refers to the one who holds this Dharma. "Old" refers to whatever has been used in any of the three seasons of winter, spring, and summer. "Clothes" refers to any of the seven types. "Washing" refers to even pouring water once. "Changing color" refers to even putting it into dye once. "Patting" refers to even patting it once with the palm of the hand. "Patayantika offense" refers to as mentioned before. So, how does it become a patayantika offense? If a bhikkhuni, with the perception of a non-relative, washes the clothes of a bhikkhu who is not a relative, she commits a patayantika offense. Changing the color incurs a patayantika offense. Patting incurs a patayantika offense. Similarly, for a non-relative, washing with a doubtful mind incurs a patayantika offense. Changing the color incurs a patayantika offense. Patting incurs a patayantika offense. If a bhikkhuni washes the clothes of a bhikkhu relative with the perception of a non-relative, she commits a dukkrata offense. Changing the color incurs a dukkrata offense. Patting incurs a dukkrata offense. Similarly, for a relative, washing with a doubtful mind incurs a dukkrata offense. Changing the color incurs a dukkrata offense. Patting incurs a dukkrata offense. For father, son, and brothers, there is no offense. The third of the fourth patayantika is completed. The incident occurred in Shravasti. At that time, relying on the seventeen groups, the Blessed One established the basis for the concealed training for the bhikkhus. Then, the twelve groups, with arrogant minds, concealed the clothes of the bhikkhunis, and at that time, despised the bhikkhunis who were content with little, and reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, starting from "This happened," proceeded until the establishment of the training. Furthermore, if a bhikkhuni, to a bhikkhu, or a bhikkhuni, or a siksamana

Or a Bhikṣu, or a Śrāmaṇera, or a Bhikṣuṇī's alms bowl, or Dharma robes, or a net, or a salt bag, or a belt is hidden, or causing others to hide it, one commits a Patayantika offense. Furthermore, what is a Bhikṣuṇī? It refers to the twelve assemblies. What is a Bhikṣu? It refers to the one who holds this Dharma. What is a Bhikṣuṇī? It refers to the female Śrāvakas of the Blessed One. What is a Śikṣamāṇā? It refers to the one who studies the Śikṣamāṇā precepts. What is a Śrāmaṇera? It refers to a young boy. What is a Śrāmaṇerī? It refers to a young girl. What is an alms bowl? It refers to the blessed one, and even another container. What are Dharma robes? It refers to any of the seven. What is a net? It refers to the net itself. What is a salt bag? It refers to a container for salt. What is a belt? It refers to a whip or a belt, any of them. In short, hiding any of the requisites for a Bhikṣu's ascetic life, except for that kind of situation, one commits a Patayantika offense. Except for that kind of situation means, excluding that kind of situation. Committing a Patayantika offense means, as previously stated. So, how does one commit a Patayantika offense? If a Bhikṣuṇī hides even a little of the requisites for a Bhikṣu's ascetic life, except for that kind of situation, all of it becomes a Patayantika offense. The fourth of the fourth Patayantika is complete. The beginning was in Śrāvastī (Jetavana). At that time, the Blessed One, relying on the group of six, forbade begging for food, but allowed it for the sick. Then, the group of twelve begged for food in the homes of Brahmins and householders, and those who were sick also enjoyed it, and those who were not sick also enjoyed it, and when the Bhikṣuṇīs admonished them, they said, "This precept is made for the Bhikṣus, not for the Bhikṣuṇīs." Some disrespectful Bhikṣuṇīs, at that time, reported it to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, from "this happened" until "establishing the precept," allowed the Bhikṣuṇīs who were sick to beg for food, those foods being: milk, yogurt, fresh butter, fish, meat, and dried meat. Also, if a Bhikṣuṇī is not sick, for her own sake...
