Up to the establishment of the precepts. Furthermore, if any bhikkhuni, being angry, quarrelsome, and fierce, becomes displeased and strikes another bhikkhuni, she commits a patayantika offense. Furthermore, what is a bhikkhuni? It is one who is coarsely delighted. What is anger? It is all entanglements. What is being quarrelsome and fierce? It is being particularly attached. What is being displeased? It is the arising of an unpleasant mind. What is a bhikkhuni? It refers to one who follows this Dharma. What is striking? It is striking with five fingers. What is a patayantika offense? It is as before. If one asks, how does one commit a patayantika offense? Furthermore, if any bhikkhuni, being angry, strikes the bhikkhuni sangha with one finger, she commits a patayantika offense. Likewise, striking with five fingers results in five patayantika offenses. Similarly, striking with the hand, finger, head, back of the head, body, elbow, thigh, buttocks, foot, or big toe results in a patayantika offense in all cases. Similarly, striking with a stick, tile, clod of earth, etc., results in a patayantika offense in all cases. If one strikes with a broom, for every bristle of the broom that touches the body, one commits a patayantika offense. For every bristle that does not touch, one commits a dukkhata offense. Similarly, if one strikes with a handful of pea pods, for every pea in the pod that touches the body, one commits a patayantika offense. For every pea that does not touch, one commits a dukkhata offense. For beginners, etc., there is no offense. The fourth patayantika offense, the first is complete. The setting is in Shravasti. The event is the same as before, the difference being from "those bhikkhunis" to "raising the palm of the hand." When those bhikkhunis of few desires rebuke, they reported to the Bhagavan. Then, from "this event occurred" to the establishment of the precepts by the Bhagavan. Furthermore, if any bhikkhuni, being angry, quarrelsome, and fierce, becomes displeased and intends to strike another bhikkhuni, even if it is just raising the palm of the hand, she commits a patayantika offense. Furthermore, what is a bhikkhuni? It is one who is coarsely delighted. The rest is as before. The difference is: intending to strike means raising but not striking down. What is a patayantika offense? It is as before.

Yes. How does one fall into transgression? In the same way, the order of falling into transgression should be explained. If a Bhikshuni even slightly resents another Bhikshuni, it will become a cause of transgression in every way. The second part of the fourth transgression is complete. The Bhikshuni's Vinaya Vibhanga, Volume Nineteen. The beginning is in Shravasti. Then, the venerable Chaga, in the morning, put on her lower garment, took her bowl and Dharma robes, and entered Shravasti for alms. After practicing alms in Shravasti, she went to where Sbeima's house was. Sbeima saw Chaga coming from afar. Having seen her, she said this: "Chaga has become a renunciate, what should I do now?" Then, Chaga said this to Sbeima: "If a Bodhisattva renounces sixty thousand consorts and becomes a renunciate, you are not even qualified to wash their feet, what else can you do?" She said this: "I also wish to become a renunciate." Then, Chaga said this to Sbeima: "Give up your household affairs well." After she gave them up well, she went with Chaga to Rajagriha and observed the summer retreat. Then, Sbeima went to the Jeta Grove, and Nidaaga said this: "For what purpose have you come?" Then, Sbeima said this: "I have become a renunciate." Nidaaga said this: "Chaga, because the razor of the Kosala country was dull, has gone to Magadha for a razor." Then, Sbeima thought: "I have neither truly become a renunciate, nor have I remained at home." While she was sitting there, depressed in her heart, another Bhikshuni entrusted Sbeima to Mahaprajapati, from "entrusted" to "ordained" (omitted). Then, Chaga, after the three summer months had passed, went to Shravasti. Sbeima heard that Chaga had come. Then, the Bhikshuni Sbeima went to where Chaga was, and upon arriving, knocked on the door of the dwelling. Then, Chaga asked: "Who is it?" She said this: "I am Sbeima." Then, Chaga said this: "Wife of the householder, please come in." She said: "I..."
