They said thus. Holy mothers, why don't you preach more Dharma? The householder, the Blessed One, has done so much. Holy mothers, are you trying to show a Dharma that is paid for with tips? Then, the Brahmins and those householders said thus: Just as you show us a small amount of Dharma, we will also offer a small amount of alms. When they were impoverished by alms, they prayed to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: The Dharma of the six-word mantra should be preached. When the Blessed One said this, they did not understand. The Blessed One said: Householder, the eye is impermanent. Householder, the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind are also impermanent. When those nuns began to preach the Dharma of the six-word mantra, Then, that group of twelve said thus: We want to make those five words into six words. If these six words do not drink alcohol and do not eat garlic, what harm is there? Similarly, when they deliberately made six words into seven words, they prayed to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: Do not preach. From the beginning of their being impoverished by alms, the Blessed One said: Women should be spoken to by men. When that group of twelve went to beg for alms, the householders in those houses said to the householders: Householders, listen to the Dharma! Holy mothers, for the time being, treat those women as friends! That group of twelve said thus: Are crows, monkeys, ewes, and female cats not women? They preach the Dharma to men by allowing these. Then, Prajāpatī Mahā Gautamī, the great mother of beings, put on her lower garment in the early morning, took her bowl and Dharma robes, and entered the village, entering those householders' houses to beg for alms. Then, those householders said thus: Holy mother, please preach the Dharma! Go and bring those women as friends.

So be it! That householder then said: Is this female crow not a woman? Then, the mother of all beings, Gautami, said to that householder: Who is it that preaches such Dharma to you? They said: It is the twelve groups of nuns. She said: Then, we will also encounter this situation. Starting from the less desirous nuns' reproach, up to the point where the Blessed One established the precepts. Furthermore, if a nun, in the absence of a woman, preaches five or six sentences of Dharma in front of a man, except for a wise woman, she will commit a Patayantika offense. Furthermore, the nun is the twelve groups of nuns. The five sentences refer to form, etc. The six sentences refer to the eye, etc. Except for a wise woman, means excluding a wise woman. Committing a Patayantika offense means the same as before. So, how does one commit a Patayantika offense? Furthermore, if a nun intentionally preaches five sentences of Dharma in front of a man, if it exceeds the sixth sentence, she will commit a Patayantika offense. Similarly, starting from the place mentioned above, up to the house, all will commit a Patayantika offense. Similarly, if intentionally preaching six sentences of Dharma, if it exceeds the seventh sentence, she will commit a Patayantika offense. If asking a question, there will be no Patayantika offense. For beginners, etc., there is no Patayantika offense. The fifth Patayantika offense is complete. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. At that time, the twelve groups of nuns had women, men, boys, and girls who had not taken full ordination recite the Dharma. Then, in that summer residence, for example, in the place of arithmetic, just like the arithmetic teachers, high-pitched sounds and loud sounds occurred, and those less desirous nuns reproached them. Then, starting from the Blessed One, up to the point of establishing the precepts. Furthermore, if a nun has someone who has not taken full ordination recite the Dharma, she will commit a Patayantika offense. Furthermore, the nun refers to the twelve groups of nuns. A person who has not taken full ordination refers to

Those who have taken full ordination are of two types: monks and nuns. The rest are those who have not taken full ordination. "To instruct" means words are the same, words are superfluous, letters are the same, and letters are superfluous. Among them, "words are the same" means that if someone says, "For as long as life lasts, do not commit any evil deeds," then he also says, "For as long as life lasts, do not commit any evil deeds." This is called words being the same. "Words are superfluous" means that if someone does not say, "For as long as life lasts, do not commit any evil deeds," but he says, "Practice perfect virtue," this is called words being superfluous. "Letters are the same" means that if someone says "A," then he also says "A." This is called letters being the same. "Letters are superfluous" means that if someone does not say "A," but he says "A." "If one allows the recitation of Dharma" means that which is spoken by the Buddha or spoken by the Shravakas. "It is a downfall" means the same as before. So, how does it become a downfall? If a nun slightly instructs someone who has not taken full ordination and allows the recitation of Dharma, then it will entirely become a downfall. If it is for those who stutter, speak quickly, need to remember things, and give to those who ask for requests, there is no downfall. The sixth downfall is complete. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. Because they have not abandoned their afflictions and because they do not understand, downfalls occur, and they accumulate previous downfalls, so they act with respect. They get up early every morning and show respect to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. They do cleaning, sweeping, and wiping. Those twelve groups of people sit and dwell with small minds. Then, a householder arrives, and seeing them, they think: "These old nuns know jewels and accumulate jewels. These twelve groups of people do not know jewels and do not accumulate jewels." Then, the twelve groups of people heard these words from the householder and said, "You should also accumulate jewels like this!" They said, "Why?"
