Then the monastic communities found alms bowls, and they accumulated what they found, but they did not use them themselves. They did not distribute them to the nuns who had not arrived, and they did not even give them to beggars. When those nuns who were dissatisfied with the nuns rebuked them, the nuns spoke to the monks, and the monks reported to the Blessed One. Then the Blessed One, beginning with "This happened," proceeded to establish the precepts. A nun should keep a surplus alms bowl for a maximum of one day. If she keeps it longer than that, it is an offense of expiation involving forfeiture. One day means one day and one night. A nun refers to the twelve groups, or others similar to them. Surplus alms bowl refers to more than what has been blessed. Keeping it longer than that means exceeding that time. An offense of expiation involving forfeiture means the same as before. So, how does one incur an offense? If a nun keeps a surplus alms bowl for more than one day, then it is entirely an offense of expiation involving forfeiture. If she keeps a gray alms bowl, there is no offense. The twentieth offense of expiation involving forfeiture is complete. The introduction is in Shravasti. At that time, a householder lived in Shravasti. He took a wife from a family of equal status. He played with her, and eventually a boy was born, and they named him "Desire." Because desires are like hot water, they played again, and a girl was born, and they named her "Mother of Desire." Later, the householder died. When the householder died, the householder's wife and three daughters all went forth. Then, the young Desire went from the monastery of his bhikkhu father to the monastery of the bhikkhunis to see his mother. He wore a robe sewn from new-colored cloth, which was reddish-yellow. His sister asked him, "Brother, whose Dharma robe is this?" He said, "It is mine." She said, "Please give it to me." He did not give it, and she cried. Her mother asked her, "Daughter, why are you crying?" She said:

It was said. I asked my younger brother for a Dharma robe, but he didn't give it to me. Then the mother said to the young acharya: Son, give the Dharma robe to your sister. He said: Won't there be any fault? She said: There is no fault in that. Then the acharya gave the Dharma robe to the acharyaṇī. The acharyaṇī also gave her own Dharma robe to the acharya. Then the acharya's Dharma robe became dirty before long. The acharya washed the Dharma robe well, mended it well, and left again, not looking at it again. Then the acharyaṇī said to her younger brother: Younger brother, whose Dharma robe is this? He said: This was yours at that time. The acharyaṇī said: Wear your own Dharma robe, and give me back my Dharma robe. He didn't give it, and the acharyaṇī prayed to her mother again: Son, give it. The mother gave it to her. Then the bhikṣuṇīs said to the acharyaṇī: Your Dharma robe is always washed clean and mended well, like a pure place. At that time, she said to those bhikṣuṇīs. Then those bhikṣuṇīs said: Why do you exchange Dharma robes with the leader of the saṃgha? She said: Even if it can be exchanged, even if it cannot be exchanged, I have exchanged it. When she said this, those bhikṣuṇīs with few desires began to scold. The bhikṣuṇīs spoke to the bhikṣus, and the bhikṣus reported to the Blessed One. From this, until the establishment of the training rule. Also, whichever bhikṣuṇī exchanges a Dharma robe with a bhikṣu, and then says: Venerable one, please take the venerable one's Dharma robe, and give me back my Dharma robe. This is an offense entailing forfeiture. Also, whichever bhikṣuṇī, that is, the acharyaṇī, and the bhikṣu refers to the acharya. Exchanging Dharma robes refers to any of the seven. An offense entailing forfeiture, is the same as above. So, how does one commit an offense? The bhikṣuṇī just a little with the bhikṣu, Dharma robe

If one experiences changing places, it becomes a downfall of abandonment in all cases. The twenty-first downfall of abandonment is complete. The introduction is in Nyen Yö (Śrāvastī). At that time, Poma Gawö (Sthūlanandā) together with the bhikṣuṇī sangha, on the first day of the last autumn month, immediately after laying down the hard ground, said this to the bhikṣuṇīs: Sisters, take out the hard ground! Come here! If you take out the hard ground, there will be accomplishment and much happiness will arise. They said this: We will not take out the hard ground at the wrong time. She said this: I am a holder of the three piṭakas, what about me? Don't I know what time it is to take out the hard ground? She did not listen to the words of those bhikṣuṇīs, and took out the hard ground at the wrong time, and then divided the gains. Then, those bhikṣuṇīs took five dharma robes and traveled through the fields. Then, the bhikṣuṇīs asked those bhikṣuṇīs: Holy mothers, is the hard ground you laid down complete? They said this: We don't know, but Holy Mother Poma Gawö (Sthūlanandā) said: I am a holder of the three piṭakas, so I know the time to take out the hard ground. They said this: Did you take out the hard ground? They said: We took it out. When they said that, those bhikṣuṇīs with few desires were scolding, at that time, the bhikṣuṇīs spoke to the bhikṣus, and the bhikṣus reported to the Blessed One, from then until the establishment of the precepts. Furthermore, any bhikṣuṇī who takes out the hard ground at the wrong time, it is a downfall of abandonment. Furthermore, any bhikṣuṇī, that is Poma Gawö (Sthūlanandā). Wrong time, what is the time and wrong time for the hard ground? From the last autumn month until the first spring month, that is the time to lay down the hard ground. If you take out the hard ground during that time, you have taken out the hard ground at the wrong time. So how does it become a downfall? Any bhikṣuṇī who takes out that hard ground at the wrong time, it becomes a downfall of abandonment in all cases. If it is for the sake of bhikṣuṇīs who have been robbed by thieves, there is no downfall. Aban
