Therefore, whoever among you is willing to travel with the Blessed One, let him do the work of sewing robes. The Venerable Ānanda thought: There are eighteen benefits to the Buddha traveling, I should go with the Blessed One himself, so he did not leave. At that time, there was a baby who had not been born long in the house of the fierce one. That person said to that girl: Girl, put this baby on the seat of the righteous one, and he will live long and grow old. The girl put on a white cloth and laid him down. The Venerable Ānanda went to Śrāvastī for alms, and he thought: I will go to the house of the fierce one to use the seat, and then go for alms, so he went there. Arhats do not allow unintentional knowledge and seeing, and he sat on that seat at will. The family members said with fear: Holy one, child, child. He quickly stood up, and when they saw that the time had come, they began to cry. He said: Sisters, why are you crying? The nature of all conditioned things is like this. However, relying on me, the foundation of learning for the hearers will be established in the Blessed One's discipline, so I should be responsible for this matter. In samsara, beings' love for relatives is a habit from beginningless time, and hearing them crying like that, the monks reported the matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Therefore, my hearers should recite the foundation of learning in the discipline like this: Without investigation, one should not sit on a seat in another's house. When the Blessed One manifested and became a Buddha for twelve years, and six years after becoming fully enlightened, he came to Kapilavastu (around 6th century BCE). At that time, one day he had a meal at his father's place, and the next day he had a meal in the company of his own consorts, the Venerable Ānanda handed food to the consort Dharmanandin with his foot, and she did not fall because she had strength. She rebuked the consort Sa

Oma said to Satsoma: The noble Charka made a vow before me, the Buddha, and the Sangha of monks. He was asked what he had done and what the result was, and he said: In any case, I will never do that again, and I will not be unhappy like that. After a few days, Queen Grakzin covered a spindle without thread with a cloth and said to the maidservant: Go, stay for a while at the gate of the royal palace, and when the noble Charka comes, you should say: Brahmin, Brahmin. If the Brahmin asks: What to do? Tell him: The Queen summons you. That maid went, and the venerable Charka also came, and she began to shout: Brahmin, Brahmin. He said: Maid, what does the Brahmin do? Venerable, the Queen summons you. He thought: Surely it is to give alms, so he hurried away. Queen Grakzin said to the maid: If she tells you to call the Brahmin, why do you call the bald Shramana? He doesn't say anything, he just stays there. The venerable Charka said: If I renounce in your house, will my Brahmin status also disappear? If it is a Brahmin, then recite Om, Bhur, Bhuva, Svaha But if you renounce, then you should: Do no evil, perfect all good, subdue your own mind, this is the teaching of the Buddha. He said: Whether you are a Brahmin or a Shramana, I have vowed to the Bhagavan that when the Bhagavan is practicing asceticism, if the Bhagavan goes to the abode of the sages, I will give these things to the Brahmins. He said: The Bhagavan has freed countless beings from wrong views, but you have not freed yourself from wrong views. She said: Venerable, the land of women is difficult to escape, what should I do? He said: Go and see, see what is given to the beggars. Venerable, this bowl of yogurt and this bowl of flour.

Stand up and come sit on this seat. What, are you giving this seat to me too? Noble ones do not accept seats. He thought, if they don't give the seat, I will break it. Knowing this, he sat down on that very seat, putting the weight of his whole body on it. As a result, it overturned, and the bowls of yogurt and flour spilled on his head. They hit him as if with horse dung, grabbed his hands and feet, and threw him into the pond where the Bodhisattva was playing. He stood up and wrung out his clothes. The monks saw this and said, "Venerable one, what wrong have you done, Charka?" He said, "I made a small joke, and this kind of fault happened." They began to scold, accuse, and speak ill of him. Hearing this, the monks at that time reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One thought, "They are scolding in some place." So he taught, "Therefore, my Shravaka disciples should recite the basis of learning in this way: Do not put the weight of your whole body on it, but learn to sit on a cushion in another's house." The group of six monks were sitting in another's house with their legs crossed. Brahmins and faithful householders scolded them, saying, "The noble ones are like mutes, gamblers, and reed children. This is not proper, do not sit like this." They said, "Wise ones, there is a need for this." "Noble ones, what is the need? First of all, you yourselves are ignorant and untaught." Hearing them scold extensively, the monks at that time reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One thought, "What the householders say is true." So he taught, "Therefore, my Shravaka disciples should recite the basis of learning in this way: Do not cross your legs, but learn to sit on a cushion in another's house." The group of six monks were sitting in another's house with their thighs crossed. Brahmins and faithful householders scolded them, saying, "The noble ones are like mutes, gamblers, and reed children.
