On that day, his wife became pregnant. The householder Good Giving also invited the Blessed One and the assembly of the Shravakas to another house, and after offering them food, the Blessed One taught the Dharma to the householder Good Giving and his wife. Both of them attained the fruit of non-return and also manifested miracles. Thus, he taught the Dharma. On the day when the householder Good Giving and his wife attained the fruit of non-return and manifested miracles, his wife gave birth to a son. This boy was handsome, lovely, beautiful, bright, like the color of gold, with a head like an umbrella, long arms, a broad body, curved eyebrows, and a high nose. His relatives gathered together and held a grand birth celebration banquet, celebrating his twenty-first day of birth, and began to name the child. The relatives said: Because this boy's parents attained the fruit of non-return and manifested miracles on the day he was born, therefore the boy's name should be called Miraculous Birth. Therefore, his name was named Miraculous Birth. The boy Miraculous Birth was cared for by eight nurses, two responsible for holding and feeding, two responsible for breastfeeding, two responsible for cleaning dirt, and two responsible for playing with him. These eight nurses nourished him with milk, yogurt, ghee, condensed milk, butter essence, and other various main foods, raising him, and quickly raising him like a lotus growing in a pond. When he grew up, he began to study letters, numbers, arithmetic, manual calculation, deduction, induction, and placement, and he became proficient in letters. He also became proficient in discernment, reading, cleverness, and behavior, as well as eight kinds of examination, namely examining jewels, land, clothes, trees, elephants, horses, and women.

I became skilled in observing men. He went to the entourage of the queen of King Prasenajit who appeared in Kosala, and the queen's entourage threw a garland of flowers at him from the base of the upper mansion. Since the world consists of friends, enemies, and ordinary people, soon others said to King Prasenajit who appeared in Kosala: The young god Illusion-taker is seeking the entourage of the divine queen. Kings are unthinking, so he instructed the ministers: Wise ones, I have banished the son of the householder Sudatta, the young Illusion-taker. The ministers bound his neck with a garland of karavira flowers, led men dressed in blue clothes, brought him out from the center of the city, went to the execution ground, and had him executed. The assembly of people from Shravasti and people who had come from other places said: This sinful king is an unthinking evil person, he killed the son of the householder, the young Illusion-taker, who was innocent, unprovocative, and not resentful. Likewise, the queen's entourage, the youth, and the ministers also said: That evil person killed the son of the householder, the young Illusion-taker, who was innocent, unprovocative, and not resentful, this is not good, it is really not good. The householder Sudatta thought: Whatever I possess and control, which I have not given away to anyone, all depends on the young Illusion-taker, but due to the fault of past karma, the king executed him without thinking, so for whom should I cut it off now? I should give it to the lowly, the helpless, the poor, and the afflicted, so he kept one karshapana as the capital for goods, and gave away all other forms of wealth to the lowly, the helpless, the poor, and the afflicted. He bought and sold goods with that one karshapana, so he earned four karshapanas, and with one karshapana he anointed the Blessed One's fragrant chamber with incense; with the second he prepared food for the servants; with the third he

After that, he gave teachings to the monks. The fourth was kept as collateral for goods. Because his household had little enjoyment, he also gave bad alms, and he also gave very bad alms, so his name became Bad Good Giving. He went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he bowed his head to the two feet of the Blessed One and sat down on one side. Having sat down on one side, the Blessed One said this to the householder Bad Good Giving: Householder, how are alms given in your house? Do you make merit? Venerable One, it is like this, in my humble dwelling I also give alms and make merit, but those are bad and very bad. Householder, whether alms are bad or good, both are causes of the ripening of enjoyment. Householder, whether alms are bad or good, but that is not out of faith, not out of respect, not from one's own hand, not at the right time, not without harm. When its ripening fruit is experienced separately, then his mind will not be invested in great household enjoyments, will not be invested in great food enjoyments, will not be invested in great clothing enjoyments, will not be invested in great dwelling enjoyments, will not be invested in great vehicle enjoyments, will not be invested in great sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile objects. Householder, the ripening fruit of giving alms in that way should be regarded in that way.
