Then, (the Buddha) said this: Foolish person, do not stand before me, go away! That person became angry and spoke the verses: May this bowl of yours and this Dharma garment, and this lump of food, be exhausted! May this discipline be like a mother, cherish yourself as if holding a child! That old practitioner, having said this, handed over the precepts, left for the sake of breaking the precepts, and went to the prostitute Madugalava. Having arrived there, he said to the prostitute Madu: Madu, please give me the unparalleled Madu. She said angrily: Old practitioner, I will not even give you a glance, let alone a touch? Having said this, that old practitioner developed such attachment to the prostitute Madu that he vomited blood, and when the time came, he was born in the hells of sentient beings. Vinaya-vibhaṅga, seventy-sixth volume. The monks became doubtful, and in order to dispel all doubts, they asked the Blessed One Buddha: Venerable Blessed One, please look at when you accepted the unparalleled Madu. The Blessed One said: Monks, not only now, but also in the past I obtained this, but I did not accept it, listen to it. Monks, in the past, on a certain cliff, there lived a blacksmith who took a wife from the same caste, and he played with her, rejoiced, and enjoyed happiness together. Playing, rejoicing, and enjoying happiness, his wife became pregnant at another time. After eight or nine months, she gave birth to a daughter who was beautiful, lovely, and beautiful, and she was raised and grew up to be very beautiful. The blacksmith thought: I will not give this daughter to anyone because of caste, because of appearance, or because of wealth. Like this, I will give her to someone who has the same or better craftsmanship as me. Soon, a Brahmin boy entered his house for alms. When that daughter came out with food, the Brahmin boy saw her and said: Daughter, have you been betrothed to someone? Or have you not been betrothed? She said: I

If asked what your father is called, he would find it difficult to give me to anyone. What is your father called? I will not give this daughter to anyone, neither for lineage, nor for beauty, nor for wealth. But like this, whoever is equal to or surpasses me in skill, I will give her to him. What kind of skill does your father know? He knows how to make a needle float on water. That Brahmin boy thought, although I don't really want to marry her, I should break her pride. Because he was clever, he ridiculed the blacksmith's tools from various crafts and workplaces, and then forged needles that could float on water. He forged a thick needle, and inserted seventy thin needles into its eye, and then made it float on water together with those needles. After forging those things, he came to the blacksmith's house and said: Who wants to buy needles? Who wants to buy needles? When the girl saw him, she spoke a verse: Friend, are you crazy? Or have you lost your mind? Why have you come to the blacksmith's house to sell needles? He also spoke a verse: Beautiful woman, I am not crazy, nor have I lost my mind, I am only here to break arrogance, I am proficient in all kinds of crafts. If your father knew a skill like mine, he would give me more of you and wealth. She said: What is your skill? I know how to make needles float on water. She told her mother: Mother, there is a craftsman's son here. She said: Let him in. After he was allowed in, the blacksmith's wife asked: What kind of skill do you have? He said, and she told the family: The prince's son, this craftsman's son, wants to show such a skill. She said: If that's the case, let's see with water. She filled a container with water and handed it to him, and he put in a needle, and the needle began to float. Similarly, he put in the second needle, from the third to the seventh, and those needles also began to float. He put in the thick needle, and that needle also began to float. Then he put in another needle

When put in, if put in, it still began to float. Likewise, the second needle, from the third to the seventh, when put in, if put in, it still began to float. The blacksmith thought, 'This is much better than what I make, I should give him my daughter.' Thinking this, he had his daughter adorned with all ornaments, held her with his left hand, and holding a ball in his right hand, sat down in front of the Brahmin boy and said, 'Brahmin boy, I give you this daughter as your wife.' He said, 'I am not seeking this, I have only shown my skill in order to break your pride.' Monks, at that time, at that moment, the Brahmin boy was myself. At that time, at that moment, the blacksmith was this wanderer. At that time, at that moment, the blacksmith's wife was this Burma. At that time, at that moment, the blacksmith's daughter was this incomparable woman, and at that time, when I found this incomparable woman, I did not take her, and now that I have found her, I do not take her.' Again, the monks arose with doubts, and in order to dispel all doubts, they asked the Blessed One, the Buddha, 'Venerable One, this old monk, relying on the incomparable woman, is behaving improperly and suffering, please look at him.' The Blessed One said, 'Monks, not only now, but also in the past, relying on this incomparable woman, he behaved improperly with his consorts and suffered, listen to this.' Monks, in the past, in a lion-like royal palace, King Lion's Mane possessed a prosperous, flourishing, peaceful, and bountiful kingdom, filled with people and many people, strife and battles, external enemies and internal conflicts were completely pacified, free from thieves, famine, and disease, allowing the flourishing of Salu and sugarcane vines, cattle, and buffaloes, and the righteous king ruled the kingdom with righteousness. At that time, in the lion-like royal palace, there was a captain named Lion, who was rich, had much wealth, enjoyed much, and possessed vast and extensive holdings.
