This sound is the Buddha. That household should not rely on young people, but return to their own dwelling. He also spoke the verses: Alas, Brahmin, inauspicious one! At an auspicious time, you speak of inauspiciousness. If he is taken by means of asceticism, he will again indulge in sensual pleasures. The Blessed One saw the wanderer Madhu from afar, and the wanderer Madhu also saw the Blessed One. Having seen him, he said to his wife: Good woman, this is the suitor for our daughter. He spoke the verses: A person with attachment looks with attachment; a person with hatred looks like a venomous snake; a person with ignorance looks as if groping in the dark; a person utterly free from attachment looks like a yoke. That household should not rely on young people, but return to their own dwelling. He also spoke the verses: Alas, Brahmin, inauspicious one! At an auspicious time, you speak of inauspiciousness. If he is taken by means of asceticism, he will again indulge in sensual pleasures. As the Blessed One was walking, the wanderer Madhu saw the Blessed One walking. Having seen him, he said to his wife: Good woman, this is the suitor for our daughter walking. He spoke the verses: How does he look with his eyes, how does he walk steadily, how are his demeanor and face, appearing free from dust. That household should not rely on young people, but return to their own dwelling. He also spoke those verses: Alas, Brahmin, inauspicious one! At an auspicious time, you speak of inauspiciousness. If he is taken by means of asceticism, he will again indulge in sensual pleasures. Those abiding in the golden-hued Audara, deluded by desire for a son, by offering in this way according to the Dharma, the Buddhas constantly and continuously beget sons. Then, the wanderer Madhu went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he said to the Blessed One: My daughter, excellent and beautiful, young, adorned, seeking desire, I offer her to you, you

shining. It is like seeing the moon of the Pleiades in the sky. Please be happy with her! The Blessed One thought: If I were to speak words of attachment to the Incomparable Mother, then the Incomparable Mother would suffer and die from attachment, and such a situation would occur, so I should speak words of anger to her. Thinking this, he spoke in verse: Brahmin, I, for the daughters of Mara, like the daughters of desire, the daughters of joy, and the daughters of love, after defeat, for all desires, not even once, have I generated a mind of attachment. For this woman who is full of feces and urine, I do not even have the interest to touch her with my feet. At that time, the mother spoke in verse: Do you see my daughter as having defective limbs, without desire, without merit? Why do you not generate strong desires for these as you do for the lovely realms of enjoyment? The Blessed One also spoke these verses: Brahmin, it is the foolish who crave sensual pleasures, they are the ones who pursue your daughter, they are the ones who generate attachment to sensual pleasures and fall into anger. For these people, extremely foolish beings will not abandon desire. I am the Buddha, the hero, the sovereign, I have attained the unsurpassed and peaceful Bodhi. Just as a lotus is not stained by water, I walk in the world without being stained by attachment. Just as a blue lotus grows in mud and water, without being stained by mud and water. Brahmin, likewise, I walk in the world, enjoying all desires with a mind of liberation. After that, the Incomparable Mother was displeased because the Blessed One used words such as feces and urine to describe her, and she became unhappy, her mind of attachment disappeared, a mind of hatred arose, her bones became thick, and her eyes became like red plums. At that time, an old man was standing by the hem of the Blessed One's robe. Then, the old man said to the Blessed One: All-seeing one, please accept this woman, Blessed One, please grant her to me. Hero, I will definitely enjoy this arrogant woman to the fullest. After saying this, the Blessed One said to the old man
