He entered Shravasti for alms. Having gone to Shravasti for alms, having done the work of food, and having returned from the afternoon alms, he chose a dwelling place to enjoy as he pleased. Taking his bowl and Dharma robes, he accompanied the householder Dhanga and went separately to Kaushambi. Gradually wandering and traveling, he arrived at Kaushambi. Then, the householder Dhanga, without entering Kaushambi, wandered from monastery to monastery, from garden to garden, from grove to grove, seeking a place where he could have a monastery built for the Blessed One. He looked for a place not too far and not too near from Kaushambi, with little traffic and noise during the day, and little sound and commotion at night, with few contacts from horseflies, flies, wind, sun, and poisonous snakes. Then the householder Dhanga saw that his own monastery was not too far and not too near from Kaushambi, with little traffic and noise during the day, and little sound and commotion at night, with few contacts from horseflies, flies, wind, sun, and poisonous snakes. Having seen this, he thought, "This place is good; I will have a monastery built here for the Blessed One." Then the householder Dhanga and the venerable Mahaprotthaka had a monastery built in that garden for the Blessed One, with high steps, decorated with windows, round windows, and railings. After the monastery was built and completed, the householder Dhanga said to the venerable Mahaprotthaka, "Venerable one, how far is the Blessed One's departure palace after he has passed away?" "Householder, it is like a wheel-turning king." "Venerable one, how far is the wheel-turning king's?" "Householder, the wheel-turning king's resting place on the road is ten yojanas." The householder Dhanga had resting places prepared every ten yojanas and sent a messenger to the Blessed One, saying, "Blessed One,"

Please go to Shambhala. I beseech the Blessed One and the Sangha of monks to attend to me with robes, alms, dwellings, causes of illness, and medicinal supplies for as long as I live. The messenger also went before the Blessed One and beseeched him. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Ananda: Ananda, go and tell the monks, 'Monks, the Blessed One will go on a journey to Badsa, whoever among you is willing to go on a journey to Badsa with the Tathagata, pack your Dharma robes.' Having heard from the Blessed One, the venerable Ananda said to the monks: 'Venerable ones, the Blessed One will go on a journey to Badsa, whoever among you is willing to go on a journey to Badsa with the Tathagata, pack your Dharma robes.' Then, the Blessed One, the subduer, accompanied by a subdued retinue; the peaceful one, accompanied by a peaceful retinue; the liberated one, accompanied by a liberated retinue; the one who has crossed over, accompanied by a retinue of those who have crossed over; the tamed one, accompanied by a tamed retinue; the Arhat, accompanied by a retinue of Arhats; the one free from desire, accompanied by a retinue free from desire; the beautiful one, accompanied by a beautiful retinue; like a chief of a herd, surrounded by a herd of cattle; like an elephant, surrounded by a herd of elephant calves; like a lion, surrounded by a group of those with fangs; like a king of geese, surrounded by a flock of geese; like a Garuda, surrounded by a flock of birds; like a Brahmin, surrounded by a group of students; like a skilled doctor, surrounded by a group of patients; like a hero, surrounded by a group of troops; like a surveyor, surrounded by a group of those who have set out on the road; like a helmsman, surrounded by a group of merchants; like a merchant chief, surrounded by a group of attendants; like a king of a city, surrounded by a group of ministers; like a Chakravartin, surrounded by a group of a thousand sons; like the moon, surrounded by a group of stars.

Then, the householder Gadangin, having offered the monastery to the Blessed One and the Shravaka Sangha, felt joy and great joy, and went to his own home. Then, the venerable Maha-Katyayana went to the Blessed One at Galava, and having arrived, bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One and sat down on one side.
