Having adorned all those places with incense and flowers, and decorated them with umbrellas and banners, taking a torma, he went to where the goddess was, knelt on both knees and said: Goddess, please reside here. She said: I am one who serves the great venerable Kātyāyana, so there is no place for me here. The venerable great Kātyāyana said: Goddess, consider from where you took the key and the crooked key. She began to think, and when she saw that the time was ripe for that person, she said to the assembly of beings dwelling in that place: Wise ones, I should be settled with a vow, if you allow the abode of the noble one to be treated in the same way as my abode, then I will stay. They agreed, and they allowed the abode of the venerable great Kātyāyana to be treated in the same way as they allowed the abode of that goddess. The butter lamp that was placed in the goddess's abode, she took it and was about to place it in the abode of the venerable great Kātyāyana. As she was carrying the butter lamp, a man sitting by the wall saw her and thought: This goddess is going to the great venerable Kātyāyana, she is leaving. Knowing his thoughts, she became angry and said: This assembly of beings dwelling in this cliff are those who practice sinful thoughts, they falsely accuse the great venerable Kātyāyana, who is without the stain of desire. Then, she dug out people from that cliff, and many people died, and when people brought out the corpses of the dead, they numbered in the millions. The assembly of beings dwelling in that place summoned diviners and asked: What has happened? They said: The goddess is angry. They began to apologize to her, and she said: You falsely accuse the great venerable Kātyāyana, who is without the stain of desire. They said again: Goddess, please be patient, and we will never do anything disrespectful again. She said: I will be patient with a vow, if you

Now, just as you attend to me, so too should you attend to the great venerable Kātyāyana, and that is tolerable. They said: Goddess, please tolerate, you are the most excellent. She tolerated them. They also attended to the great venerable Kātyāyana with the most excellent attendance. The great venerable Kātyāyana then and there promised to reside for the rainy season, and then, taking the blue boy, said to the goddess: O venerable one. The goddess said: O venerable one, please grant me a small token, and I will make offerings to it. He gave her a potsherd, and she covered it with ashes, made it into a stupa, and had a festival held. Therefore, it became known as the Potsherd Festival, the Potsherd Festival. Even today, the monks who prostrate to the stupa still prostrate. The blue boy, holding onto the edge of the Dharma robe of the great venerable Kātyāyana, went swaying, and was seen by cowherds and shepherds. They made a great noise, shouting "Swinger, swinger," and therefore the name of the people of that place became "Swinger, swinger." The great venerable Kātyāyana went to a mountain cliff, and there he placed the blue boy under a tree and went for alms. On that mountain cliff, the king was without a son, and the time had come, and the people of the palace, ministers, and villagers gathered together and said: Wise ones, to whom should we consecrate as king? Some said: To the one who is known for merit and power. Some said: How do we know that? Some said: We should appoint scouts. They appointed scouts, and then they began to search for each other. They saw the boy sleeping under a tree. They began to observe his marks. As the shadows of the other trees leaned to the east, inclined to the east, and fell to the east, they saw that the shadow of that tree did not leave the boy's body. Having seen this, they began to deliberate: Wise ones, this boy has merit and power.

Therefore, he should be enthroned. They woke him up and said, 'Child, take the kingdom!' The child said, 'I am not striving for the sake of the kingdom, but I am a devotee of the great venerable Kātyāyana.' The venerable Kātyāyana, having heard this, thought, 'Does this child have the karma to become a king?' After considering it, he saw that he did, and said, 'Child, take the kingdom, and in this way, may you act according to the Dharma.' He accepted. They enthroned him, and the blue lotus boy was allowed to rule there, so the blue lotus's kingdom became known as the blue lotus's kingdom. The venerable Mahākātyāyana went to the country of Bhogana. The mother of the venerable Mahākātyāyana, who was born in Bhogana, saw the venerable Mahākātyāyana and said, 'My son, it has been a long time since I have seen you!' 'My son, it has been a long time since I have seen you!' Milk flowed from both of her breasts. The venerable Mahākātyāyana addressed her with 'Mother, Mother' and showed respect. She gave food to the venerable Mahākātyāyana, and the venerable Mahākātyāyana, having understood her thoughts, habits, nature, and inherent qualities, and having heard these things, while sitting on that very seat, he shattered the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the perishable aggregate with the vajra of wisdom, and having manifested the fruit of entering the stream, he taught the Dharma that perfectly and distinctly realizes the four noble truths in such a way. Having seen the truth, she said, 'What the monk has done for me, neither father nor mother, nor king, nor gods, nor ancestors of the past have done for me, nor have ascetics and brahmins done for me, nor have loving ones, friends, and relatives done for me. The ocean of blood and tears has been dried up, I have been delivered from the mountain of bones, the gates of the lower realms have been closed, the gates to higher realms and liberation have been opened, beings have been pulled out from hell, animals, and hungry ghosts, and have been placed among gods and humans.' Thus, he spoke three times with special emphasis.
