Ah, and became fearless. Then, King Tsongpudchen thought: If there were no Arhats in the world, why would I offer alms to the great venerable Katyayana, who has five hundred attendants, and the Bhikshuni Rima, who has five hundred attendants? So he cut off the alms of the monks and nuns, and the monks and nuns also left the city of Sound. However, the venerable Katyayana the Great and the Bhikshuni Rima remained there because they needed to be tamed. After some time, when King Tsongpudchen came out of the city of Sound, the venerable Katyayana the Great entered the city of Sound for alms, and when he saw the king, he thought: If this person is unhappy, that would be bad, so he went to one side and stayed there. King Tsongpudchen saw him go to one side and stay there. Having seen this, he said to the ministers: Wise ones, why did the great venerable Katyayana go to one side and stay there after seeing me? Then, the best of the ministers, Heruka and Bhiruka, went forward and said: O God, the great venerable Katyayana thought that if the God went to see the grand parade and auspicious celebrations, and was unhappy because of it, that would be bad, and also thought that doing the work of colors is difficult, and if the Dharma robes were touched by dust, that would be bad. The king went away without saying anything. When the venerable Katyayana the Great came out after begging for alms in the city of Sound, King Tsongpudchen entered, and the venerable Katyayana the Great went to one side and stayed there as before. King Tsongpudchen saw him staying on one side. Having seen this, he said to the ministers: Wise ones, the reason why the great venerable Katyayana went to one side and stayed there after seeing me before was that, so what is the reason why he is going to one side and staying there now? Then, two flawed ministers went forward and said: O God, this one says that he should not be touched by the dust of the father-killer.

Thus it is. Because the king was completely unthinking, upon hearing these words, he was completely enveloped by anger and said to all his retinue: "Wise ones, whichever of you likes me the most, let him throw handfuls of earth upon this shramana with the shaven head." All the crowds threw handfuls of earth. Because that king was powerful, each person threw a handful of earth upon the venerable Maha-Katyayana, and a great mound of earth accumulated upon him. The venerable Maha-Katyayana also manifested a hut not made of leaves in the midst of it and dwelt there. As the earth scattered from him, it was seen by cowherds and shepherds, who, while reviling, dwelt around. The chief ministers Heruka and Bhiruka followed and came, and having arrived at that place, the two asked: "Wise ones, what is this?" They said: "The quarrelsome patricidal king has covered the innocent and harmless venerable Maha-Katyayana with earth." The two, filled with tears, with weeping faces, together with the cowherds and shepherds, began to clear the earth. The venerable Maha-Katyayana emerged, and the two prostrated themselves at his feet and asked: "Venerable one, what is this?" He said: "It is karma, what else could happen?" The Vinaya-vibhanga, volume seventy-two. The two said: "Venerable one, what will be the result of this deed done by the one with the topknot and the great multitude of ordinary people?" He said: "From today, in seven days, the city of Ghoṣa will be buried by earth." "Venerable one, what will be the sequence?" The two venerable ones, first, on the first day, a great wind will arise and the city of Ghoṣa will be cleared of stones, tiles, and gravel. On the second day, a rain of flowers will fall. On the third day, a rain of clothes will fall. On the fourth day, a rain of silver will fall. On the fifth day, a rain of gold will fall. After that, those who dwell near the city of Ghoṣa and have done similar deeds

will enter the city of Loud Sound. When they enter, on the sixth day a rain of jewels will fall. On the seventh day a rain of earth will fall. The two of them said: Holy One, what is this? Do we two also have a share in that deed? Fair-faced ones, you two do not have a share in that deed. Holy One, if that is so, how can we two leave this city?
