Of. May you bestow the most excellent enjoyment. Uttara said: Which king in the world, Does not lack the physical sense of touch, That is certainly a god, Or will pass into nirvana. Which ruler abandons the Dharma, And delights in what is not Dharma, Know that king to be impoverished, He will go from darkness to darkness. I will teach you the Dharma, Great king, listen to me. After hearing the Dharma, O king, You will go wherever you desire. For a body without qualities, The only great quality is: How it is grasped, So it will be followed. These ten of the ten kings, Should be spoken of as the greatness of men. For sons, wives, and wealth, What joy is there in playing? The son shows joy, The wife expresses contentment. Thieves accumulate wealth, Kings are freed from bondage. From the ultimate actions, medicines, Wealth and relatives cannot save. All the knowledge mantras and armies, And the bravery of heroes cannot save. Here, the powerful, the high-ranking, Even the long-lived gods who dwell, They too will decay when their lifespan is exhausted, Who can escape death today? The powerful, the wealthy, the famous, The all-pervading one who ruled as king, And the maker of darkness, the ill-sounding crow's son, They too could not avert death. How can a king escape death, With diligent vows, asceticism, And dullness of action and diligence, And vast retinues and wealth? In the sky, in the ocean, Or entering the valley of a mountain, Wherever one dwells, the lord of death, There is no place where he cannot reach. In the sky, in the ocean, Or entering the valley of a mountain, Wherever one dwells, karma, There is no place where it cannot reach. Bones like the color of hail, Abandoned and scattered in all directions, Whatever they are, those, Who would rejoice to see them? Skulls like the color of conch shells, Abandoned and falling like gourds, Whatever they are, those, Who would rejoice to see them? O king, what covers when it is hot, And covers when it is cold, Your self, which is called, Whatever it is, that too will be destroyed by death. How much food do people eat, How much do they wear, or give away
