Having spoken these words, he led King Utrayana to where the Blessed One was. At that time, the Blessed One was sitting before hundreds of thousands of attendants, teaching the Dharma. The Blessed One saw King Rupavan Hridaya, who had come from Magadha, from a great distance. Having seen him, the Blessed One said to the monks: "Monks, this is King Rupavan Hridaya. He is destined to come to me from birth. The birth of the Tathagata is like this, there is no other birth like the birth of taming." After speaking, the Blessed One remained silent. King Rupavan Hridaya bowed his head to the feet of the Blessed One and sat to one side. Having sat to one side, King Rupavan Hridaya said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable One, if King Utrayana wishes to go forth and receive full ordination in this well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, to become a monk, please, Blessed One, out of compassion, allow him to go forth and grant him full ordination." The Blessed One said to him, "Come, monk!" Thus he was allowed to go forth. The Blessed One also said, "Come, monk! Practice the pure Brahmacharya!" As soon as the Blessed One finished speaking, he shaved his head and wore the monastic robes. His hair and beard grew for only seven days, and he held a bowl and water pot in his hands, like a monk who had received full ordination for a hundred years. It is also said: By the Tathagata's command to "Come forth," he possessed a body with shaven hair and wearing monastic robes. Quickly, his senses became calm, and his body was covered by the Buddha's intention. Then, the venerable Utrayana, in the morning, put on his lower garment, took his bowl and Dharma robes, and entered Rajagriha for alms. Many ordinary people saw him and proclaimed throughout the entire city of Rajagriha: "The Blessed One has allowed King Utrayana to go forth and receive full ordination, and now he is begging for alms in Rajagriha." Having heard this news, hundreds of thousands of beings...

The time had come. The women living in the houses were also sitting by the windows, the windows with nets, and the balconies, watching. The ministers said to King Handsome Heart: The divine King Utrayana has entered the royal palace for alms, surrounded by hundreds of thousands of beings. When King Handsome Heart heard this, he went to the place where the monk Utrayana was, and upon arriving, he spoke these verses to the monk Utrayana: O King, you who have enjoyed a thousand cities, And have used the sounds of clamor, Having abandoned them, you seek alms, Do you not feel any sorrow at all? Vessels of gold and silver, You have used those weighing a hundred measures, Having abandoned them, you use an earthen bowl, Do you not feel any sorrow at all? Clean rice of Salu, Seasoned with meat, Having abandoned them, you partake of warm gruel, Do you not feel any sorrow at all? Silk, wool, cotton, and fine linen, And garments of Kautamkashi you have forsaken, Yet you wear tattered rags, Do you not feel any sorrow at all? You sleep in windless, tightly closed Multi-storied houses, Having abandoned them, you dwell under trees, Do you not feel any sorrow at all? You sleep on soft, cotton-like Beds, Having abandoned them, you sleep on mats of grass, Do you not feel any sorrow at all? Beautiful women, like consorts, Lying respectfully, speaking sweetly, So many you have completely abandoned, Do you not feel any sorrow at all? You travel on the necks of elephants, in chariots, and on horses, Having abandoned them, you walk on the ground with your feet, Do you not feel any sorrow at all? Treasuries and houses Filled with abundant wealth you have also abandoned, Having obtained nothing, Do you not feel any sorrow at all? Utrayana said: O King, if one is difficult to tame, And lives on the food of others, Then the unaccomplished will tame him, Just as one tames an ox with a yoke. King Handsome Heart said: O King, are you not happy? Why do you speak like a lowly person? I will give you half of the kingdom, Enjoy it as before. O King, are you not happy? Why do you speak like a lowly person? Whatever the mind desires
