Thus, while the Brahmin woman was sitting on that very seat, she destroyed the twenty peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregate of existence with the vajra of wisdom, and manifested the fruit of entering the stream. Thus, the Dharma was taught. Having seen the truth, she said: "Venerable, I rely on the virtuous friend, Venerable Charka. What Venerable Charka has done for me, neither father nor mother has done for me, nor has the king done for me, nor have the gods done for me, nor have the ancestors of the past done for me, nor have ascetics and Brahmins done for me, nor have loving ones and friends, nor the assembly of relatives done for me. The ocean of blood and tears has dried up. I have been liberated from the mountain of bones. The gates of evil destinies have been closed. The gates of higher realms and liberation have been opened. Sentient beings have been pulled out from hell, animals, and hungry ghosts. I have been placed among gods and humans. Samsara has come to an end. The twenty peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregate of existence, accumulated from beginningless time, have been destroyed by the vajra of wisdom, and I have obtained the fruit of entering the stream. Venerable, I have attained realization. Venerable, I have attained realization. Venerable, I go for refuge to the Bhagavan, the Dharma, and the Sangha of monks. I beseech you to accept me as a female lay follower. From this day forward, for as long as I live, I go for refuge with great joy from the depths of my heart. Venerable Charka, will you please accept my alms, robes, dwelling, causes of illness, and medicinal provisions for as long as I live?" The venerable Charka said: "Ordination is to engage in benefiting others by following after them, so one should also benefit other Brahmins," and he did not accept. Then, the venerable Charka tamed and established eight Brahmin families in Shravasti (mNyan yod, located in present-day Uttar Pradesh). The venerable Charka thought: "What is the time to tame?" In Shravasti, there was a wealthy Brahmin, with much wealth, great enjoyment, completely and widely possessed, stingy, narrow-minded, not even giving food offerings to crows, always holding onto his possessions. He had rented a hillside field and had people plow the edges.

Then he widened the dikes and gave his wife just enough food to fill her stomach, and then went to that mountain land, personally supervising and making all the tenants work in the fields. The Venerable Ashvajit thought: Now is the time to tame that Brahmin. So he went begging for alms and went to the Brahmin's house and said: Brahmin woman, please fetch water for my bowl. She gave him some rice, and the bowl was immediately filled. The Brahmin woman said: Venerable, my husband is a miser, with small eyes, who doesn't even give offerings to crows, and holds on to everything tightly, so don't come again. The Venerable Ashvajit said: There will be a way, tomorrow I will come with another person. The next day, the Venerable Ashvajit went there with another person during the day, and she gave them rice as before. In this way, he and sixty people went once a day to beg for alms at the Brahmin's house. Wise ones, look at my foolishness! The Brahmin measured a hundred portions of property with his hands, but they were eaten by that Brahmin woman and the Shakyaputra practitioners together, and she scolded, complained, and insulted him for it. A Brahmin boy went from Shravasti to that mountain land for some business, and the Brahmin saw the Brahmin boy from afar, and asked him: Brahmin boy, where did you come from? He replied: From Shravasti. Have you heard about my family? I have heard. In Shravasti, the house of Anathapindika is the first house of the Shakyaputra practitioners, and the teacher's house is the second house of the Shakyaputra practitioners, and sixty Shakyaputra practitioners go once a day to beg for alms. The Brahmin thought: This person will accuse me of being stingy, I should ask someone else. So he went to the side of the road and sat down, and after a while, another Brahmin boy went from Shravasti to that mountain land for some business, and the Brahmin saw the Brahmin boy from afar, and asked him: Brahmin
