He truly taught the giver with a Dhamma-related discourse, made him truly understand, made him truly extol, and made him truly rejoice. In many ways, he truly taught with a Dhamma-related discourse, made him truly understand, truly extolled, and truly made him rejoice, and then he did not speak. Then, the householder Anāthapiṇḍika rose from his seat, bowed with his palms together towards the Blessed One, and said this to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, would you please allow me to offer alms tomorrow at my house with the Saṅgha of monks?" The Blessed One remained silent to the householder Anāthapiṇḍika, thus giving his consent. Then, the householder Anāthapiṇḍika, knowing that the Blessed One had given his consent by remaining silent, bowed his head to the two feet of the Blessed One and departed from the presence of the Blessed One. The Brahmin Snake-mouth-threat, when the Blessed One was traveling to the sons of Evil-abandonment, came to Śrāvastī and heard that the Blessed One was staying in Śrāvastī, in the Jeta Grove, in the Anāthapiṇḍika's monastery. Having heard this, he went to where the venerable Good-arrival was, and having arrived, he bowed his head to the two feet of the venerable Good-arrival and sat down to one side. Having sat down to one side, the venerable Good-arrival truly taught that Brahmin with Dhamma-related talk. He made him truly understand. He made him truly extol. He made him truly rejoice. In many ways, he truly taught with Dhamma-related talk. He made him truly understand. He made him truly extol. He made him truly rejoice. Then he did not speak. Then that Brahmin rose from his seat, bowed with his palms together towards the venerable Good-arrival, and said this to the venerable Good-arrival: "Venerable Good-arrival, would you please allow me to offer alms tomorrow at my house?" Brahmin, ask the Blessed One. Then the venerable Good-arrival said this to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, that Brahmin came to me and asked me to offer alms at his house tomorrow.

Should I borrow it? The Blessed One said: The guest who was invited before belongs to me. The Venerable Sudatta accepted the Brahmin without saying a word. Then, the Brahmin, knowing that the Venerable Sudatta had accepted without saying a word, bowed his head at the feet of the Venerable Sudatta and left from the presence of the Venerable Sudatta. Then, the householder Anathapindika prepared clean and excellent food and offerings that night, and the next morning he got up early, spread out the seats, prepared water, and invited the Blessed One, saying: If the Venerable One needs to borrow the umbrellas of the Sangha, the Blessed One replied: Now is the time, please allow me to invite you. Then, the Blessed One put on his lower garment in the morning, took his bowl and robes, and was surrounded by the assembly of monks, with the Sangha of monks leading the way, and went to the residence of the householder Anathapindika, and upon arriving, sat on the seat that had been prepared in front of the Sangha of monks. That Brahmin also prepared food and offerings for the Venerable Sudatta. Then, the Venerable Sudatta also put on his lower garment in the morning, took his bowl and robes, and went to that Brahmin's residence, and upon arriving, sat on the seat that had been prepared. Then, the Brahmin, knowing that the Venerable Sudatta was sitting comfortably, satisfied the Venerable Sudatta with food and offerings. The Brahmin thought: This monk Sudatta has eaten food and offerings, I am afraid it will be difficult to digest. So he said these words to the Venerable Sudatta: Venerable Sudatta, would you like to drink something tomorrow? He replied: Drink. The Brahmin put his finger into the elephant wine, stirred it in the drink, and offered it to the Venerable Sudatta. Arhats do not allow unconsidered knowledge and views to enter, the Venerable Sudatta drank it, and after saying words of thanks, got up from his seat and left. He walked through the streets of Shravasti, and the sunlight shone on his body, and because he was drunk, he was by the wine
