Yogis and Brahmins did not do it either, nor did loving ones, friends, and retinues. The ocean of blood and tears dried up, they were liberated from the mountain of bones, the gates of evil destinies were closed, the gates of heaven and liberation were opened. Sentient beings were pulled out from hell, animals, and hungry ghosts, and placed among gods and humans, samsara was ended. The twenty peaks of the mountain of the view of the perishable collection, accumulated since beginningless time, were destroyed by the vajra of wisdom, and the fruit of entering the stream was obtained. Monks, we have attained realization. Monks, we have attained realization. Monks, we take refuge in the Blessed One, the Dharma, and the Sangha of monks. We beseech you to accept us as lay practitioners. From this day forward, until the end of our lives, we take refuge with extreme joy from the depths of our hearts. Holy ones, we now have no ability to take even a sesame seed from another without giving it. What shall we do with this thing? Fair-faced ones, leave it right here today! Holy ones, are we not taking it? Did you awaken even a single dog there? Leave it right here today! They went there and left those things behind. Then, the god who had great faith in the venerable Ama-agapa said to that mountain cliff: All that you have not been destroyed is the power of the holy Ama-agapa! The holy Ama-agapa is staying in this pleasure grove, listen to the Dharma today! Then, hundreds of thousands of beings, some out of curiosity, some urged by their past roots of virtue, then came out and went to where the holy Ama-agapa was, bowed their heads at the feet of the holy Ama-agapa, and sat before the holy Ama-agapa in order to listen to the Dharma. The venerable Ama-agapa understood the thoughts, habits, realms, and nature of that assembly, and in this way, two hundred million beings, while sitting on that very seat, destroyed the twenty peaks of the mountain of the view of the perishable collection with the vajra of wisdom, and directly realized the fruit of entering the stream, while some

Some are the fruits of returning. Some are the fruits of non-returning. Some have gone forth, having abandoned all afflictions, and directly realized the state of an Arhat. Some have generated the mind of a Hearer's Bodhi. Some have generated the mind of a Solitary Buddha's Bodhi. Some have generated the mind of the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Buddha's Bodhi. Thus, he taught the Dharma. From that assembly, most inclined towards the Buddha, inclined towards the Dharma, and inclined towards the Sangha. Then, those five hundred sons of good families said to the venerable Unobstructed: Venerable Unobstructed, if we could obtain the state of a Bhikshu, going forth and taking full ordination in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, we would practice the pure conduct before the Blessed One. Good sons, come! The Blessed One will make you obtain the state of a Bhikshu, going forth and taking full ordination. Then, the venerable Unobstructed, leading those five hundred sons of good families, went to where the Blessed One was. At that time, the Blessed One was sitting in front of hundreds of thousands of assemblies, teaching the Dharma. The Blessed One saw the venerable Unobstructed from afar. Having seen him, he said to the Bhikshus: Bhikshus, do you see the Bhikshu Unobstructed coming from afar? Venerable One, we see him. Bhikshus, this Unobstructed is coming to the Tathagata with a gift, and there is no gift of the Tathagata more excellent than this, which is taming. Then, the venerable Unobstructed went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he bowed his head to the two feet of the Blessed One, and then sat down on one side. Having sat down on one side, the venerable Unobstructed said to the Blessed One: Venerable One, if these five hundred sons of good families wish to obtain the state of a Bhikshu, going forth and taking full ordination in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, please, Blessed One, out of compassion, let them go forth, let them take full ordination. The Blessed One said to them:

Then, they were ordained with "Come, bhikkhu," and, O bhikkhus, come! Practice the pure life! After this was decreed, they became people with shaved hair and wearing rag robes at the mere end of the Blessed One's decree. Their hair and beards grew for only seven days, their hands were busy with alms bowls and water pots, and they remained in a state like the conduct of a fully ordained bhikkhu who had received full ordination for a hundred years. Again it was said: By the Thus Come One's decree of "Come!", possessing a body with shaved hair and wearing rag robes, instantly the senses became very peaceful, and the body's form was covered by the Buddha's intention. Then, the Blessed One gave them instructions: O sons of good family, when dwelling alone in a secluded place, being mindful, gentle, and abandoning self, for what reason do you shave your hair and beards, don robes of ochre color, and, with faith in what is truly right, go forth from home to homelessness, practicing the unsurpassed pure life, in this very life, having directly realized and accomplished it with your own direct knowledge, my birth is exhausted, the pure life has been practiced, what was to be done has been done, I will not know another existence beyond this. Causing them to understand that: the Arhat has become free from desire from the three realms, regarding clods and gold as equal, possessing a mind equal to the sky and the palm of the hand, like placing sandalwood, wisdom has broken the eggshell, and having obtained wisdom, direct knowledge, and individual correct view, turning their backs on existence, the gains of desire, and respect, they have become those to be worshipped, to be remembered, and to be openly spoken of by the gods, including those with power and attendants. The bhikkhus asked the venerable Non-regressor: Venerable Non-regressor, how do you live happily? Venerable ones, I live a little happily, and I live a little painfully. How do you live happily? How do you live painfully? Like this, whatever work of taming has been done for the time being, that is living happily. Killing the demon of Hadpor, that is living painfully. Why? Because he spoke in detail about that time. The bhikkhus said: Venerable Non-regressor
