They were reverently worshipping the stupa of Buddha Kashyapa. Then, King Krki, during the spring season when trees blossomed and fruits flourished, came to the pleasure garden with his retinue of consorts amidst groves where swans, cranes, peacocks, parrots, quails, cuckoos, and shang shang birds made sounds. That king quickly entered Varanasi. The retinue of consorts hung pearl necklaces on reed branches and were about to bathe when they heard that the king had quickly entered Varanasi. They were startled and forgot the pearl necklaces, leaving them behind as they entered Varanasi. An old woman saw the pearl necklace and hung it on a bamboo pole. Since women are accustomed to adorning themselves with ornaments, she remembered the ornament the next day. She then petitioned the king, and the king sent those who lived on milk porridge there. They saw the pearl necklace hanging on the bamboo pole and asked the old woman, "Who hung this pearl necklace on the bamboo pole?" The old woman replied, "I did." They presented the pearl necklace to the king. The king asked those who lived on milk porridge, "Where did you find it?" They replied, "We found it where an old woman had hung it on a bamboo pole." The king said, "Summon that old woman." They summoned her and said, "Your Majesty, this is that old woman." The king asked, "Is it true that you hung this pearl necklace on the bamboo pole?" The old woman replied, "Yes, Your Majesty." The king asked, "Did you not develop desire for it?" The old woman replied, "Your Majesty, I have taken refuge and received the precepts from the Blessed One, the perfectly complete Buddha Kashyapa. How could I possibly develop desire for the possessions of others?" The king was delighted and gave her the pearl necklace as a reward, saying, "It is yours, take it!" The old woman took the pearl necklace and...

Therefore, having offered and venerated the stupa of the Bhagavan, the perfectly enlightened Buddha of Light, and kneeling on both knees, he made the aspiration, saying: May I, by this root of virtue, not have my wealth depleted. Monks, that old woman at that time was none other than the mother Saga of the Deer Park, and the result of that action of making such an aspiration at that time was that her wealth was not depleted. Monks, therefore, the result of black actions is also black, the result of white actions is also white, and the result of mixed actions is also mixed. Monks, therefore, one should abandon black and mixed actions and seek white actions. Monks, you should train yourselves in this way. The fifty-ninth of the downfall offenses pertaining to enjoyment is complete. The Vinaya-vibhaṅga, the sixtieth fascicle. The Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling in the Light Garden in Rajagriha, in the place of Kalandaka. In Rajagriha there are three hot springs, one is where King Bimbisara of Magadha bathes, the second is where the retinue of consorts bathes, and the third is where the townspeople and villagers bathe. King Bimbisara of Magadha thought: I have offered the Bhagavan and the Sangha of Hearers with all kinds of provisions in various ways, but not with bathing. I think I should offer the Bhagavan and the Sangha of Hearers with bathing. Then, he went to where the Bhagavan was, and having arrived, he bowed to the feet of the Bhagavan with his head and sat down on one side. Having sat down on one side, King Bimbisara of Magadha said this to the Bhagavan: Venerable one, in this Rajagriha there are three hot springs, one is where I bathe, the second is where my retinue of attendants bathe, and the third is where the townspeople and villagers bathe.

Where I bathe, the noble ones also bathe; when the noble ones bathe, I stay there; when I bathe, may the noble ones also bless me. Where the retinue of attendants bathe, the holy mothers also bathe; when the holy mothers bathe, the retinue of attendants also stay; when the retinue of attendants bathe, may the holy mothers also bless. The Blessed One, without speaking, granted permission to King Bimbisāra, who arose in Magadha. Then, King Bimbisāra, who arose in Magadha, knowing that the Blessed One had granted permission by not speaking, bowed his head to the two feet of the Blessed One and departed from before the Blessed One. The Six Groups had an idea: 'The agreeable one, the near agreeable one, King Bimbisāra, who arose in Magadha, is faithful, so let us go and see what kind of faith he has to bathe.' So they went there to bathe. They said, 'The agreeable one, the near agreeable one, if we all bathe together at once, it will be finished quickly. Two will bathe and four will help.' After that, two will bathe and four will help. After that, again two will bathe and four will help. 'Let us do it that way,' they said, and two of them began to bathe while four helped and sat. At that time, King Bimbisāra, who arose in Magadha, also went there to bathe, and he said to one who belonged to the non-secret ones, 'Hey, go and see who is bathing now.' That man, having heard the command of King Bimbisāra, who arose in Magadha, went there and looked, and when he saw the Six Groups bathing, he went to the king and said, 'O god, the noble Six Groups are bathing.' The king said, 'Put up a small seat, and I will sit down.' That man put up the small seat, and the king sat down, and after a long time had passed, the king again said to the one who belonged to the non-secret ones, said: 'Hey, go.'
