Sixth Section: Categories Related to Home, etc. Sixth Section: Categories Related to Home, etc. Vinaya-vibhanga, Volume Fifty-Six. Verse: Comfort, fire, desire, complete non-ordination, Dharma and speech, novice's color change, precious jewels, and hot season. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in Jeta's Grove in Anathapindika's Park in Shravasti. A monk named Dharma, who lived with Ananda, was conscientious, remorseful, disciplined, and desired to learn. As long as he did not know how to universally practice bad conduct, he stayed with him. When he knew how to universally practice bad conduct, he began to live with the monks who naturally resided there, and only went to prostrate at their feet three times a day according to the Bhagavan's command. Near-Joy said to Ananda: Teacher, this Dharma has set up obstacles before me and the Sangha of monks, including the Buddha. I must do some harm to him. Ananda said: This monk is conscientious, remorseful, disciplined, and desires to learn. What harm can you do to him? You must cut off his food. That is possible. A householder invited Ananda and Near-Joy to a meal. Near-Joy thought: Today, I must cut off this Dharma's food. Dharma went to Ananda and said: Abbot, I wish to go for alms. Ananda said: Dharma, we have been invited to a meal by a householder today, come and eat here. Dharma said: Have I ever been invited with the Abbot before? Near-Joy said: Dharma, I have heard from others and seen with my own eyes that you are conscientious, remorseful, disciplined, and desire to learn. Would the Abbot allow you to accept inappropriate things? Why do you reject the Abbot's Dharma-abiding words? The Bhagavan said in the Vinaya that when the teacher and abbot instruct, one should promise to accept. If one does not accept, it is a transgression.

Didn't you say that? After that, Bhikshu Rabtu Drakpa scolded him, and he sat there without saying a word. He said, "Take the bowl and water strainer and go." Gawa said, "What are the bowl and water strainer for there? There, you can get filtered water from washing the utensils, come back, let's go." After that, a holy person and a beggar saw Chö together, and he said, "Chö, where are you going?" "Going to be invited to a feast." "Know the amount of food." Chö said, "Will we eat tsampa? Or will we cut off tsampa, it's hard to say." After that, he and those two entered Shravasti (Nyen yö, Śrāvastī) together, and those two went to the street, sat in the shop, and then went to the house of the householder Nye ga (Nye ga), ate tsampa and came back. After that, Gawa also went to that householder's house, sitting and eating tsampa. Chö said to Nye ga, "Teacher, it's time for shade, it's time to go." Nye ga said, "Everything is ready there, going there there is nothing to do but eat, just going for the time of shade." Chö stood up and started measuring the time of the shadow with two feet, and Nye ga said, "Foolish fellow, don't you believe our teachings at all? Do you think in your heart that we will eat at the wrong time? I am not comfortable talking or sitting with you, it is comfortable for me to talk or sit alone like this, you go." Chö thought, "If I had come with the bowl and water strainer, I would have gone begging, there is nothing to do now." Thinking, he went to the temple, and as long as his body had luster, he devoted himself to the good side, and when his body lost luster, he put down his head and lay down. The monks said to him, "O long-lived Chö, if the tsampa is someone else's, is the food also someone else's? Why do you devote yourself to the good side with all your strength, but eat so much tsampa?" Chö said, "Who ate it? Didn't you eat it?" "Didn't eat." Why did he explain the situation in detail at that time, and why did those monks with few desires for the monks

Thinking, they scold the monk, accuse him, and insult him by saying that he should be made to abstain from food. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, regarding this event, this origin, and this occasion, gathered the community of monks, etc., as before. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, knowingly commit offenses, etc., as before. The Buddha, the Blessed One, rebuked Nanda. Nanda, you are looking for faults, thinking that you will find fault with this monk in any way, and using that as an excuse, you said to the monk, 'Venerable one, come here, let's go to the houses, and there I will have as much offering and food as you want given to you.' After saying that, you did not let him receive the offering, and then you said, 'Venerable one, it is not comfortable for me to speak or stay with you, it is comfortable for me to speak or stay alone like this, go away.' Is it true that you said this and made him abstain from food? Venerable one, yes. The Buddha, the Blessed One, rebuked him, saying that this is not the conduct of a renunciant, it is not in accordance, it is not proper, it is not in accordance with the rules, this is not something that a renunciant should do. Then, after rebuking him in various ways, the Blessed One said to the monks, 'Monks, therefore, seeing the ten benefits, the training rules should be established for the hearers in the Vinaya,' etc., as before. My hearers should recite the training rules in the Vinaya in this way: 'Again, if any monk is looking for faults, thinking that he will find fault with this monk in any way, and using that as an excuse, he says to the monk, 'Venerable one, come here, let's go to the houses, and there I will have as much offering and food as you want given to you.' After saying that, he does not let him receive the offering, and then he says, 'Venerable one, it is not comfortable for me to speak or stay with you, it is comfortable for me to speak or stay alone like this, go away.' If he says this, he commits an offense of expiation.
