Those people put their hands together and changed their expressions, saying: Teacher, you still don't know anything, we're afraid we'll have to look for someone else. The teacher said: Children, if such an unprecedented change has occurred, hasn't anyone come here? They said: Yes! Who? It's the Noble Charaka. He has done the left shooting, right shooting, footwork, grip, throwing the lasso, shooting great arrows, cutting, splitting, stabbing, throwing the vajra point, and throwing the sharp blade in such a way that no one can match. He said to them: The Bodhisattva also learned where he learned to shoot arrows. If he had not renounced, he would have become the best archery teacher in all of Jambudvipa. However, learn what I know from me, and learn the rest from others! The teacher thought: He will offend me again and again, I must go and see. So he went to Charaka and said: Noble Charaka, have you come to our archery range? Charaka said: Yes. Noble One, have you slightly frustrated the children? Charaka said: I have frustrated them. He said: Noble One, that is my livelihood, please do not frustrate the children! Miser, you live by our skills, but you don't give us even a little reward? He said: Noble One, I am a poor man! Soon, his younger brother friend came and asked him: Friend, why are you sitting there feeling annoyed? He said: I have been punished with a fine. By whom? By the Shākya's renunciates. Why? He told the story in detail, and slandered the Shākya's renunciates' practice as a lie, the Brahmins' practice as a lie, and even the teachers of musical instruments punish with fines. They blamed each other and cursed each other. This happened for a while, and the Buddha, the Bhagavan, did not yet establish the basis of the precepts for the training of the hearers for the purpose of taming them. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was staying in the Kalanda Grove of Light in Rājagṛha. The venerable Cārka, having dressed in his lower garments in the morning, took his bowl and robes, and entered Rājagṛha for alms. As soon as he had finished begging for alms, he saw a place for music practice and went there. The music teacher was not there, and the children were sitting there, and he asked: Children, what are you doing? They said: Venerable, we are learning music. Cārka said: Children, that's good, you have surpassed the highest art. Children, play the six-fold, the righteous, the earth-holder, the wise, the follower, the intermediate, and the Keśika. They began to play the six-fold, the righteous, the earth-holder, the wise, the follower, the intermediate, and the Keśika, and Cārka folded his hands and changed his expression. They said: Venerable, why do you fold your hands and change your expression? Cārka said: If even your teacher does not know, how can you understand? They said: Venerable, do you know a little about this? Cārka said: Children, what craft is there on earth that I do not know?
