Some said, 'What name shall we give the boy?' Since this boy was found on the great road, let his name be 'Great Road.' Thus, he was named 'Great Road.' The boy Great Road was raised and grew up. When he came of age, he mastered letters, numbers, arithmetic, manual calculation, deduction, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and reading. At that time, he mastered the customs of Brahmins, conduct, cleanliness, daily practices, taking ashes, taking water pots, taking earth, gestures, hairstyles, words of praise, exclamations like 'Alas,' the certain Vedas, the sacrificial Vedas, the poetic Vedas, and the state-protecting Vedas. He was also proficient in the six occupations of Brahmins: performing sacrifices, causing others to perform sacrifices, reading, causing others to read, giving, and receiving. He became a Brahmin skilled in the Vedas and the branches of the Vedas, able to clearly express his own views and refute the views of others. At that time, the Brahmin Great Road had about five hundred Brahmin children recite the secret mantras of the Brahmins. After some time, that Brahmin would play with his wife, be happy, and enjoy pleasure. Later, his wife became pregnant, and when the time of her delivery arrived, the Brahmin called an old woman, and she came. Soon, she gave birth to a boy, and the old woman bathed the child, wrapped him in white cloth, and filled his mouth with melted butter. Then, she gave the child to a girl and said to her, 'Girl, take this child to the crossroads of the great road, and if you see any renunciates or Brahmins, respectfully prostrate at their feet and say this: 'This child prostrates to the feet of the noble ones.' If he is alive when the sun sets, bring him back; if he dies, bury him there.' That girl was foolish and lazy, so she took the child and went to sit on a small path. Heretics often frequented that place.

Then, getting up early the next morning, because they were going to touch the water's edge, the non-Buddhists went to touch the water's edge, and when they arrived there, the girl, with reverence and humility, prostrated at their feet and said: Holy ones, this child prostrates at the feet of the holy ones. They said: May you live long! May you be raised for a long time! May the wishes of your parents be completely fulfilled! The girl saw that he was still alive when the sun was setting, so she took him home. Those people asked the girl: Is the child alive? The girl said: He is alive. They said: Where did you find him? On a certain small path. They said: What name should we give the child? This child was found on a small path, so let's name him "Small Path One." So they named him Small Path One. The child Small Path One was raised and grew strong. When he grew up, if he was taught letters, he would forget when he said "sid," and he would forget "sid" when he said "zhes." His teacher said to the Brahmin: Brahmin, I have to teach many other Brahmin children to read, so I cannot teach Small Path One to read. The Great Path One can remember a lot by saying little, but this Small Path One forgets when he says "sid," and forgets "sid" when he says "zhes." The Brahmin thought: Not all Brahmins are proficient in letters and syllables, this one will become a Vedic Brahmin, so he gave Small Path One to a reciter to learn the Vedas. That reciter would forget "bhu" when he said "Om," and forget "Om" when he said "bhu." The reciter said to the Brahmin: Brahmin, I have to teach many other Brahmin children to read, so I cannot teach Small Path One to read. The Great Path One can remember a lot by saying little, but this Small Path One forgets "bhu" when he says "Om," and forgets "Om" when he says "bhu." The Brahmin thought: Not all Brahmins are proficient in reciting the Vedas, whether he is clever or not, whether he is pure or not, whoever is a Brahmin is a god.

Therefore, it is thought that this will only become a Brahmin caste. He was extremely dull and extremely small, so his name became Little Path, Little Path. Wherever that Brahmin was, if he was invited as a guest for some reason, he would take that Little Path with him. At another time, that Brahmin became ill, and even though he was served with medicines of roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, he still weakened. So he called Great Path and said: Child, after I die, you do not need to grieve. You must do your best to take care of your younger brother, Little Path. After saying that, Accumulation will eventually be exhausted, The lofty will eventually fall, Meeting will eventually lead to separation, Living will eventually lead to death. Because it was said like this, he became endowed with the Dharma of that time. The two of them decorated the coffin with blue, yellow, red, and white cloths, carried it to the cemetery and burned it, and then performed a purification ceremony underneath, and then sat down. Vinaya-vibhaṅga, Volume 47. The Brahmin Great Path was between Shravasti and Jetavana, where there was a forest of trees. There, about five hundred Brahmin children were reciting the secret mantras of the Brahmins. The Venerable Shariputra and the Venerable Maha Maudgalyayana, after completing the work of subduing, traveled with five hundred attendants in the country of Kosala and came to Shravasti. In Shravasti, many ordinary people heard that the Venerable Shariputra and the Venerable Maha Maudgalyayana, with five hundred attendants, were traveling in the country of Kosala and had come to Shravasti. After hearing this, many beings began to go out to greet them. Great Path saw them going out to greet them and said: Sages, where are you going? They said: The Venerable Shariputra and Maudgalyayana have come to Shravasti while traveling in the country of Kosala, and we are going to see them. Great Path said: Those two have abandoned the highest caste and have become monks under the Shramana Gautama of the second caste. What is the use of seeing them? At that time, the Brahmin
