When they walked in a line, non-believers saw them and mocked, saying, "Are you walking like playing music?" At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed, "Since that is the case, allow the placement of seats for the Sangha." After the Blessed One allowed the placement of seats for the Sangha, Anathapindika heard about it and offered five hundred beds to the Sangha. When they all preached the Dharma, it became noisy. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed, "One person should preach the Dharma." They did not know who should preach the Dharma. The Blessed One instructed, "From the elders of the Sangha to the new monks of the Sangha, all can preach the Dharma." If all the new monks preach the Dharma, then all the elders will become undignified. The Blessed One instructed, "The elders should sit separately and preach the Dharma." The elders of the Sangha became undignified. The Blessed One instructed, "The elders should place two or three cushions separately and preach the Dharma." Even there, preaching the Dharma was still undignified. The Blessed One instructed, "The elders should place two or three cushions separately and then set up a lion throne." It was difficult for the preacher to climb. The Blessed One instructed, "If the direction is fixed, then make steps with bricks. If the direction is not fixed, then make steps with wood." It became displeasing because of spitting. The Blessed One instructed, "Place a spittoon." Bees gathered there. The Blessed One instructed, "Pour ashes." The monks did not know what to pour. The Blessed One instructed, "Pour sand or ashes." It became foul-smelling. The Blessed One instructed, "Clean and dry it from time to time." They arranged themselves in only one long line, and the young ones could not hear. The Blessed One instructed, "The seats should be arranged in two forms, namely, a crescent shape.

Or like the shape of a pond. When Brahmins and faithful householders invited monks to other homes as guests, the monks did not accept. The Brahmins and faithful householders said: Venerable ones, when the Buddha had not yet appeared in the world, the non-Buddhists were the recipients of offerings. Now that the Blessed One has appeared in the world, you are the recipients of offerings. If you do not accept, will we, without the provisions of merit, go from this world to another world? When they said this, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: It should be accepted. When they borrowed cushions, the monks did not give them. The Blessed One said: The cushions should be lent. After the monks had eaten, they took the cushions and left, and those people said: Venerable ones, you go ahead, and we will follow. The monks, regretting it, did not leave the cushions. The Blessed One said: They should be left. They said: Venerable ones, please drink some water and rest for a while before leaving. The monks did not stay. The Blessed One said: They should stay. Such a situation arose for them, and therefore they did not send the cushions. The Blessed One said: They should be taken. After the Blessed One said that they should be taken, they did not know who should take them. The Blessed One said: Those who live in the monastery should strike the small bell and take them. Brahmins and faithful householders came to the monastery and invited the monks as guests, but the monks did not accept. The Blessed One said: It should be accepted. 过去佛陀开示说：应当安置守护的僧侣。他们进入那些僧侣之中，那些僧侣说：圣者您想要什么？他说：我不想要，因为我守护这些坐垫。 那些僧侣说：圣者，难道我们想偷您的坐垫吗？如果心里不舒服，就请安静地离开吧。世尊开示说：不要进入他们之中，而要独自待着。如果是诵经者，就应当诵经，并且也要专注在诵经上。如果是苦行者，也应当独自待着，生起意念，并且也要专注在意念上。当它变成坑时，就应当修补。那些坐垫被酒糟、油、粪便和尿液弄脏时，僧侣们就丢弃它们。世尊开示说：不要丢弃它们，凡是被酒糟弄脏的，就应当用水清洗。凡是被油弄脏的，就应当用碱清洗。凡是被粪便和尿液弄脏的，就应当用土、黏土或重物清洗。世尊开示说：应当听闻佛法。这样开示之后，僧侣们没有遮盖地做着，太阳很热。世尊开示说：应当设置遮阳篷。刮风下雨后，他们丢弃住所而离开，那变得不合适。世尊开示说：应当修补。他们不知道谁来修补，谁住在哪里，就由谁来修补，对于所有年长的，都布置了好的地基，那些僧侣长老们无法修补，世尊开示说：所有年长的，应当由年轻人来修补，所有年轻的，应当由年长者来修补。修补后堆放在一起，那变得不合适。世尊开示说：应当和谐地放置。 他们后来不听闻佛法。世尊开示说：应当遮盖或不遮盖。这样听闻佛法时，婆罗门和有信仰的居士们

The Buddha of the past declared: "A guarding monk should be placed." They entered among those monks, and those monks said: "Venerable one, what do you desire?" He said: "I do not desire, for I am guarding these cushions." Those monks said: "Venerable one, do you think we would steal your cushions? If you are uncomfortable, please leave quietly." Then, the Blessed One declared: "One should not enter among them, but should remain alone. If one is a reciter, then one should recite and also focus on that. If one is an ascetic, then one should also remain alone, generate thoughts, and also focus on that. When it becomes a pit, then it should be repaired." When those cushions were defiled by beer dregs, oil, feces, and urine, the monks discarded them. The Blessed One declared: "They should not be discarded. Those that are defiled by beer dregs should be cleansed with water. Those that are defiled by oil should be cleansed with alkali.
