赞颂“敲犍椎吧”后，比丘们敲响了犍椎。当具寿查迦看到比丘们开始举起泥土时，那些比丘们也开始举起泥土。查迦让那些比丘们白天黑夜不停地搬运泥土。他们说：“具寿们，这座寺庙以前适合修行，现在却适合防御工事了，我们要去舍卫城。”他们去了舍卫城。比丘们对他们说：“具寿们，欢迎你们到来！欢迎你们到来！我们很高兴见到你们，但不高兴你们的到来。如果那座寺庙适合修行，你们为何舍弃那座寺庙来到这里？”具寿们说：“那座寺庙以前适合修行，现在却适合防御工事了。”“怎么回事？”“具寿查迦来到那里，开始建造防御工事。”当时，比丘们向世尊禀告了此事。世尊开示说：“比丘只要稍微对其他比丘表示不满，都会构成堕罪。”佛陀世尊住在舍卫城的祇陀林给孤独园。当时，具寿查迦对新来的比丘们说：“具寿们，来吧，我们去游方，在那里我们也能击败对手，也能宣扬自己的名声，也能获得供养，你们也不必为钵、法衣、网、碗、腰带、诵经、阅读、念诵、修行和作意而忙碌。我们也会照顾你们这些生病的人。”他这样劝诱他们。当比丘们知道“这个人到处都在做恶行”时，没有人愿意和他一起去游方，于是他独自去游方，来到了一座山岩间的寺庙。那座寺庙里住满了诵经的比丘。查迦进入了那座寺庙。

After praising "Let's strike the ghaṇṭā," the monks struck the ghaṇṭā. When the venerable Charka saw the monks beginning to lift the mud, those monks also began to lift the mud. Charka made those monks carry mud day and night. They said, "Venerable ones, this monastery used to be suitable for practice, but now it is suitable for fortifications, we will go to Shravasti." They went to Shravasti. The monks said to them, "Venerable ones, welcome! Welcome! We are happy to see you, but not happy about your arrival. If that monastery is suitable for practice, why did you abandon that monastery and come here?" The venerable ones said, "That monastery used to be suitable for practice, but now it is suitable for fortifications." "What happened?" "The venerable Charka came there and started building fortifications." At that time, the monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One taught, "If a monk shows even a little displeasure towards other monks, it will constitute an offense." The Buddha, the Blessed One, was staying in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, the venerable Charka said to the new monks, "Venerable ones, come, let's go on pilgrimage, where we can also defeat our opponents, and also proclaim our own fame, and also obtain offerings, and you will not have to be busy with alms bowls, robes, nets, bowls, belts, chanting, reading, recitation, practice, and attention. We will also take care of you who are sick." He encouraged them in this way. When the monks knew that "this person is doing evil deeds everywhere," no one was willing to go on pilgrimage with him, so he went on pilgrimage alone and came to a monastery in a mountain rock. That monastery was full of monks who were reciting scriptures. Charka entered that monastery.

Venerable, I have karshapanas here, but there are no wages. Householder, didn't the Blessed One say that the monks should work? If the Venerable would allow work to be done, that would be great." Carka went to the temple and struck the ghanta. The Blessed One said that the ghanta should be welcomed, so the monks welcomed the ghanta. When the Venerable Carka began to carry bricks, the monks also began to carry bricks. Carka had those monks carry bricks for a day, and they said: "Venerable ones, this temple used to be suitable for recitation, but now it is suitable for work, we are going to Shravasti." They went to Shravasti, and the monks said to them: "Venerable ones, welcome! Welcome! We are happy to see you, but not happy to come here.
