Those who live together and those who are assigned as attendants, when going, should inform their teachers and Khenpos. After going there, if they have other tasks, they come back to inform. The Blessed One said: If those who go there have other tasks, they should not come back to inform again and again, but do the work there. What they have informed before is equivalent to having informed everything. Those people take the cushions there, but do not bring them back. The Blessed One said: Those people should bring the cushions back. Those people take the cushions and go very early, and the teachers and Khenpos have circumstances that prevent them from going. The Blessed One said: Those people should inform the teachers and Khenpos, asking whether they can go or not. If they say they can go, then send the cushions. If they say they cannot go, then do not send the cushions. A householder invited the Buddha and the Sangha of monks to another house for a meal. A young man was very diligent in virtuous activities, and he thought: Today I don't have to go begging for alms, so until the sun reaches noon, I will strive to do good deeds. If a monk accepts food indiscriminately, he will commit a serious offense. Brahmins and faithful householders come to the monastery, they sit on the cushions, and then abandon them there. No one cleans them, causing the place to become unclean. The Blessed One taught: Whoever sees it should clean it. Old and weak monks, and patients who cannot endure pain, see those places without coverings, but are unable to clean them. The Blessed One taught: They should tell the steward monk, and the steward monk should also respectfully clean it. The monks uncovered the coverings of their dwellings, entrusted them to one monk, and then went to beg for alms. Others also entrusted them to him, and still others entrusted them to him, and then went to beg for alms. At this time, wind and rain came, and he was unable to clean them. The Blessed One taught: Do not have too many people entrust things to one monk. When they became impoverished, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed: Individuals will become impoverished, but the Sangha will not change, so first move out the individual's bowls and Dharma robes, and then move out the Sangha's after that. When they moved out, those who take what is not given stole it. The Blessed One instructed: Set up a guardian monk there. When they set up capable people. The Blessed One instructed: Set up someone with little power. When they let the fire enter unbearably. The Blessed One instructed: If the fire is unbearable, do not let it enter, and even if it burns, do not regret it. In the center of a large hail there is a temple, and when thick streams of rain fall from the top of the mountain, water enters the temple, and villages, cities, the king's palace, and the countryside are also washed away. Fields and the roads leading to the fields, courtyards, gatehouses, and temples are also washed away. The monks took out their respective bowls and Dharma robes. The Sangha's residence was washed away. The householder came and asked the monks: Venerables, has anything not been washed away? Nothing has been washed away. How about the Sangha's residence? It was washed away. Is it like that, that nothing has been washed away?
