It is not possible to do that. The lion said, "Let us go together." The two of them started to go together. The lion, the king of the mountain beasts, had an old fox following him, who was very cunning and ate leftovers. That fox thought, "This tiger is an enemy of my food, I must separate these two." Then, that old fox sat in front of the lion with its ears drooping. The lion said, "Uncle, is the hot wind not blowing?" The fox said, "Nephew, the wind is raging." What's wrong? This tiger is saying, "Where did my lion go? It makes me eat leftovers, I must kill it." The lion said, "Uncle, we two are like two brothers sucking the same breast when two mothers are dying. Those who gossip and sow discord fill the world. After we two die, you two should not listen to anything, this is the will, do not say that." The fox said, "Nephew, if you do not listen to the words of wanting to help me now, it will be in vain." The lion said, "Uncle, what will be the order?" The fox said, "Nephew, this tiger will come out of the nest and stretch its neck to look around. After stretching its neck to look around, it will open its mouth. After opening its mouth, it will look in all four directions. After looking in all four directions, it will let out three tiger roars and then come to you, then you will know that it is going to kill me." After that, it sat in front of the tiger with its ears drooping. The tiger said, "Uncle, is the hot wind not blowing?" The fox said, "Nephew, the wind is raging." What's wrong? This lion is saying, "Where did my tiger go? I must kill it." The tiger said, "Uncle, we two are like two brothers sucking the same breast when two mothers are dying.

The crow said, "Nephew Lion will come out of the nest and stretch his body. After stretching, he will yawn. After yawning, he will look in all four directions. After looking in all four directions, he will roar three times like a lion and come before you. Then you should know that I will be killed by him." The two of them always did this by nature, but they never took it seriously many times. Another time, the lion, king of beasts, came out of the nest, stretched his body, yawned, looked in all four directions, roared three times like a lion, and then went to the tiger. The tiger also came out of the nest, stretched his body, yawned, looked in all four directions, roared three times like a tiger, and then went to the lion. The two of them always did this, but they never took it seriously many times. When the seeds of discord were sown in the lineage, they took it seriously. The lion also thought, 'I will be killed by him,' and the tiger also thought, 'I will be killed by him.' The lion thought again, 'I have strength, but the tiger is not like that. It cannot attack me, so I should observe further.' Then he said in verse: Abundant water fields, possessing skill and strength, it is unreasonable for sharp teeth to attack a strong arm. The tiger also said in verse: Abundant water fields, possessing skill and strength, it is unreasonable for a strong arm to attack sharp teeth. The lion said: Who told you? The tiger said: This crow. The tiger said: Who told you? The lion said: This crow. The lion thought, 'This fellow is going to separate the two of us,' so he slapped the crow to death. The gods said in verse: Do not abandon friends because of the words of others, and examine what others say. Because those who want to separate will look for opportunities, do not trust gossiping people. The crow was born a lying villager, born to separate friends. After the gossiper is killed, see how happily the friends get along!

Monks, let alone the beings who are born in the animal realm, even those animals who attack each other with slander and want to kill each other, what need is there to mention people? Monks, therefore, a monk should not attack another monk with slander. If a monk attacks another monk with slander, he will commit a serious offense. Then, the Blessed One, having condemned in various ways, said to the monks: Monks, therefore, in order to correctly see the ten benefits, the basis of learning in the Vinaya should be established for the hearers, and so on, as before. My hearers should recite the basis of learning in the Vinaya in this way: To speak slander to a monk is a cause of falling. To speak slander to a monk means that with the intention of speaking slander to a monk, the language, words, terms, sounds, statements, convincing words, the path of words, the sound of words, the expression of language are spoken. Falling means burning, cooking, and falling into sentient hell, animals, hungry ghosts, evil destinies, evil paths, and wrong views. Furthermore, if this fall is not confessed and not separately confessed, it will hinder the virtuous dharmas. Therefore, the Buddha said it would cause falling. So, how does one fall? In the "Middle Summary" it says: Caste, craft, profession, and, signs, diseases, the five categories of falling, and, near afflictions, and, condemnation is the last. A monk, with the intention of speaking slander, goes to someone who has renounced from the Brahmin caste and says: Venerable one, you say to the monk, where does the venerable one have the conduct of a Shramana? Where does he have the conduct of a Brahmin? The venerable one is one who has renounced from the Brahmin caste. If he says which monk, what is his name, what is his caste, what is his lineage, saying the name will incur a minor offense, and saying the caste and lineage will incur a minor offense of slander. A monk, with the intention of speaking slander, goes to someone who has renounced from the royal caste and says: Venerable one, you say to the monk, where does the venerable one have the conduct of a Shramana? Brahmin
