Then He performed these four modes of conduct: walking, standing, sitting, and lying down. He also entered into the fire element samadhi. From the body of the Buddha, the Bhagavan, who had entered the fire element samadhi, various rays of light emanated, namely: blue, yellow, white, madder, and like the colors of crystal and silver. He also manifested twin miracles, namely: fire blazing from the lower part of His body and a stream of cold water flowing from the upper part of His body. Fire blazing from the upper part of His body and a stream of cold water flowing from the lower part of His body. Just as in the east, He also manifested in the same way in the south, west, and north. Thus, He manifested four kinds of miracles in each of the four directions. Then, the Bhagavan thought to Himself: If the Tathagata were to touch the feet of King Suddhodana, then his head would split into seven pieces. If King Suddhodana were to touch the feet of the Tathagata, then the arrogant Shakyas would think, 'Why should a father touch the feet of his son?' and thus generate disbelief. Therefore, I must manifest a miracle such that King Suddhodana can pay homage to the feet of the Tathagata without bowing down. Having thought and realized this, He rose into the sky above, as high as seven tala trees. He also stayed at the height of six, four, three, two, and one tala trees. Then, He rose to the height of seven men, and also stayed at the height of six, five, four, three, two, and one men. Then, King Suddhodana, without bowing down, paid homage to the feet of the Tathagata with his head, and in order to make it known to the Shakyas, at that time he spoke a verse: When you were born, the earth shook greatly, The shadow of the Jambudvipa never left your body, Thus and for three times, All-seeing, possessing wisdom, Buddha, at your feet, I bow my head. Then, the Bhagavan withdrew the manifested miracle and returned to the Nyagrodha Grove.

Having arrived, he sat down on the prepared seat in front of the community of monks. Then, King Śuddhodana, rice food, white food, ambrosia food, and many hundreds of thousands of Śākyas bowed their heads to the feet of the Blessed One and sat down on one side. Some Śākyas folded their palms towards the Blessed One and sat down on one side. Some Śākyas, seeing the Blessed One from afar, sat down on one side without saying a word. Then, King Śuddhodana questioned the Blessed One in verse: O hero, when you went to the palace riding elephants, horses, and chariots, how did you walk with your feet on those thorny and dangerous places? The Blessed One replied: I, with the feet of magical power, and the vehicle that bestows truth, without being hurt by the thorns of affliction, wander freely in all lands. The king asked: O hero, you were once beautiful wearing Kāśika garments, how does your body endure the rough robes of ochre now? The Blessed One replied: O king, I am beautiful wearing the woolen clothes of shame. Whoever wears clothes that can be endured becomes beautiful in the peaceful forest. The king asked: O steadfast one, you once ate food with many flavors from golden vessels, how does the bad alms food now enter your mouth? The Blessed One replied: The food of those with the joy of Dharma is with renunciation and samadhi. Even though I have abandoned the craving for food, I eat to benefit all the world. The king asked: O wise one, you once lived in a high palace suitable for all seasons. Now that you live alone in the forest, how can you be free from sorrow? The Blessed One replied: Gautama, having abandoned all the roots and causes of fear, along with their latent tendencies, living in the forest free from sorrow and fear, I have no fear there. The king asked: O Sage, you once always performed the best bath in a delightful palace. Now that you live alone in the forest, where do you perform the bath of wealth? The Blessed One replied: Gautama, the Dharma pool is the shore of merit, without impurity, praised by the noble ones.

Having bathed in the immortal body. Going beyond the qualities of wisdom. The king asked: "O Hero, in your own palace, You bathe with golden and silver vases, How do you bathe your body, With hot and turbid spring water?" The Blessed One replied: "Gautama and the bank of the river of pure precepts, Purity and coolness are praised by the wise. Having bathed in the immortal body, Going beyond the qualities of wisdom." King Śuddhodana asked: "From where does oppression arise, From where does fear arise, From where does aversion arise? Please tell me these things." The Blessed One replied: "From where does oppression arise, From where does fear arise, From where does aversion arise? Listen, I will tell you. Old age, sickness, and death, If these three did not exist, I would also be delighted, In very pleasing things." The king asked: "O Hero, who delights the Śākya clan, You are not tainted by the eight worldly dharmas, Excellent, perfectly pure!" Then, Rabga and the king, Having circumambulated the righteous sangha, Touched the feet of the Sage of the Śākyas with their heads, Heard from the Sugata and remained. Then, King Śuddhodana thought: My son has realized such a collection of qualities, I have truly gained a great benefit! Then, the Blessed One, understanding the thoughts, habits, dispositions, and nature of that great assembly of people, thus, King Śuddhodana and Devadatta, except for the seventy-seven thousand Śākyas, including those more arrogant than sinful desires and pride, saw the truth, and thus taught the Dharma. Then, among the many thousands of beings, some directly realized the fruit of stream-entry, some directly realized the fruit of once-returning, some directly realized the fruit of non-returning, and some renounced and abandoned all afflictions, directly realizing the state of Arhat. In that retinue, most were established as having turned to the Buddha, turned to the Dharma, and turned to the Sangha. King Śuddhodana was...
