At that time, King Suddhodana, on the seventh day, made the entire city of Kapilavastu level, without stones, gravel, or broken tiles, and arranged vast offerings such as incense, thick powders, scattering various flowers, raising banners and streamers, and so forth. In the Nyagrodha Park, in a spacious area, a crescent-shaped seat was prepared. All the roads from the Nyagrodha Park to the city of Kapilavastu were beautifully decorated, without stones, gravel, or broken tiles. Scented water was sprinkled, and many silk ribbons were hung in between, and bouquets of flowers were also arranged. The fragrant smoke of incense filled the air, various flowers were scattered, and banners and streamers were erected. King Suddhodana himself, with the great wealth of a king and the great power of a king, served the Blessed One in the Nyagrodha Park in this way: respectfully welcoming the Blessed One and abiding there. Then, as the Blessed One gradually traveled, he arrived at the edge of the water wind Rohaka.

Then (the Buddha) departed. There, some monks were washing their hands and feet. Some were discarding toothpicks. Some were filtering water. Some were bathing. The Shakyas residing in Kapilavastu heard that the young Siddhartha had arrived, and that King Suddhodana had arranged spacious accommodations in the Nyagrodha Park. Having heard this, hundreds of thousands of Shakyas gathered in the Nyagrodha Park. Some of them were driven by past roots of virtue and came. Others were curious, thinking: Will the father first pay homage to the son's feet? Or will the son first pay homage to the father's feet? With such thoughts, they came. Then, the Blessed One thought thus: If the Tathagata goes to Kapilavastu on foot, the arrogant Shakyas will not find the young Siddhartha to be great. Because, when he was previously a Bodhisattva, coming out of Kapilavastu, he was greeted by hundreds of thousands of gods, and he descended and went from the sky. Now, even though he has realized unsurpassed wisdom, he comes on foot, which will cause them to develop distrust. Therefore, I should enter Kapilavastu by means of miraculous transformation. Having thought and recognized this, he said to the monks: Monks, you cross the Rohini River on foot! The Tathagata will go by means of miraculous transformation. The monks, having heard from the Blessed One, replied: Venerable One, as you command. Then, they crossed the Rohini River on foot and went to that Nyagrodha Park. Then, the Blessed One, not long after the Sangha of monks had left, comprehended in his mind and entered into such a samadhi: As he was in samadhi, by means of miraculous transformation, he disappeared from the opposite bank of the Rohini River, and like a lotus with eight petals, he appeared manifestly in the sky, and from above Kapilavastu, he went to that Nyagrodha Park, and sat in the sky above the Nyagrodha Park in the lotus position. At that time, the Blessed One faced the eastern direction.
