Having abandoned the dust, rubbing his hands together, placing the alms bowl and water strainer aside, washing his feet, leaning against a tree, like a king crawling on his chest curling up his body, he sat in a meditative posture, behaving peacefully. Then, that person, because the venerable Aśvajit's peaceful conduct captivates the minds of gods and humans, rejoiced and went to the wealthy son, and having arrived, said these words to the wealthy son: Young man, please be aware! The renunciant whom you saw wandering for alms in the city with what kind of conduct, he dwells in the monastery with conduct that is a hundred thousand times greater than that. Then, having heard of the venerable Aśvajit's perfect and prosperous conduct, the wealthy son rejoiced and, with reverence and caution, said to that person: Hey, quickly harness a comfortable chariot, and I will ride it and go to see that renunciant today. That person, having heard "Young man, as you wish" from the wealthy son, quickly harnessed a comfortable chariot and went to the wealthy son, and having arrived, said these words to the wealthy son: Young man, Gorbu is ready, now please be aware that the time has come! Then, the wealthy son rode the comfortable chariot, came out from the sinful place, and having arrived at the lotus grove, turned the chariot and rode as far as it was possible to ride, and having dismounted from the chariot, he himself entered the lotus grove. The wealthy son saw the venerable Aśvajit sitting with his senses perfectly restrained and his conduct peaceful. Having seen him, he thought to himself: If I were to awaken this renunciant from this samadhi, it would not be in accordance with my custom. When he arises from this samadhi, then I will go to him. Thinking thus, he sat to one side, waiting for him to arise. Then, the venerable Aśvajit arose from the ash-colored samadhi and sat to one side. Then, the wealthy son went to the venerable Aśvajit, and having arrived, together with the venerable Aśvajit, face to face

They conversed with each other using various words that made them happy and truly satisfied, and remained completely at ease. After being completely at ease, the wealthy Gyadbu said to the venerable Ashvajit: "Wise one, are you a teacher? Or a Shravaka?" "Good sir, I am one who follows the path of the Shravaka teacher." "Wise one, what is the difference between a teacher and a Shravaka?" "Good sir, the difference is very great, like this: for example, Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, and a mustard seed; the great ocean and a cow's footprint; the sun and a firefly; the sky and the hole in a lotus root. Among these, just as Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, is, so should a teacher be regarded; just as a mustard seed is, so should a Shravaka be regarded. Just as the great ocean is, so should a teacher be regarded; just as a cow's footprint is, so should a Shravaka be regarded. Just as the sun is, so should a teacher be regarded; just as a firefly is, so should a Shravaka be regarded. Just as the sky is, so should a teacher be regarded; just as the hole in a lotus root is, so should a Shravaka be regarded." After saying this, he spoke the verses: What is the difference between the king of mountains and a mustard seed? What is the difference between poisonous snakes and the water in a cow's footprint? What is the difference between the sun and a firefly? What is the difference between the sky and a lotus root hole? The difference between Buddha, Shravaka, and Bodhi is that. Then, the wealthy Gyadbu thought to himself: "Since this renunciant praises the teacher and disparages himself, the Buddha will not be anything but excellent, and the Dharma he teaches will not be anything but excellent." Thinking this, he said to the venerable Ashvajit: "Holy one, I wish to renounce in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya of the Holy One, to receive the Bhikshu ordination, and to obtain the status of a Bhikshu. I wish to practice pure conduct in the presence of the Holy One." "Good sir, have your parents given their permission?" "Holy one, they have not given it." "Good sir, the Tathagata and the Shravakas of the Tathagata do not ordain sons of families who have not been permitted by their parents, nor do they grant them full ordination.

Did. O noble one, please ordain me alone! In any case, I will do so that my parents will grant it. The venerable Aśvajit said to him: Good, good son, do so. Then, Gyadbu Nor, being exceedingly pleased and rejoiced at what the venerable Aśvajit had said, went empty to his own house, and said to his parents: Parents, know that I have faith only in the well-spoken Dharma-Vinaya, so I will go forth from home to homelessness. Son, young man, know that you are our only son, beloved, agreeable, tolerant, and seeing you is not unpleasant. If you die, we can only part with you unwillingly. What need is there to mention letting you go while alive? Parents, if you grant it, that would be great. If you do not grant it, from now on I will neither inquire nor prostrate. Son, young man, do not disagree, as long as we are alive, you are in our sight, and do not think of other things. Then, Gyadbu Nor fasted for one day. On the second and from the third to the sixth day, he also fasted. Then, Gyadbu Nor's parents said to Gyadbu Nor: Son, young man, know that you are very young and desire happiness, you do not know suffering. Brahmacharya is difficult to practice, seclusion is difficult to do, and it is difficult to be happy alone. It is difficult to understand living in dwellings, solitary places, forests, mountains, and all the edges. Living alone in a solitary place is painful. You must live with fierce wild animals for as long as you live. You must live on what others give for as long as you live. You must be separated from human desires for as long as you live. You must be separated from human joys and games for as long as you live. Young man, come back! Sit down and enjoy the desires! Also give alms, also accumulate merit. Thus he spoke.
