Having arrived, I bowed my head with peacefulness and gentle conduct, and sat down alone. Then, that Brahmin, treating the boy with the words, "Welcome!", said, "Hey boy, where do you come from? What do you want?" The boy said, "I come from the Central Land, and I wish to serve the feet of the Khenpo." "For what?" "To recite the Vedas." "Boy, very well, do so! That is what a Brahmin should do." That boy began to recite the Vedas in the presence of the Brahmin. The usual behavior of the boys was this: when they were not reciting, sometimes they would go to the water's edge to play, sometimes they would go to the city, and sometimes they would go to the place where Yama burns wood. After some time, they stopped reciting, and at that time they went to the place where Yama burns wood, and on the way they had this kind of conversation: "Hey, people of the Kudsa caste! People of the Badsa caste! People of the Shandila caste! People of the Bardwaja caste! People of the Fifth caste! People of the Near Fifth caste! Which of you has come from which place, we should ask." Then, one boy said, "I am from the East." Another said, "I am from the South." Yet another said, "I am from the West." Yet another said, "I am from the North." That boy said, "I am from the Central Land." They said, "Wise ones, we have seen and heard of all the lands, but we have not seen or heard of the Central Land." "In the East dwell the intelligent, in the South are the benefactors, the land of the West is full of deceit, and the people on the Northern road speak harshly." They also spoke these verses. Then they asked, "Boy, what is the Central Land like?" Wise ones, the Central Land is the most excellent of all lands, with rows of rice and sugarcane, abundant cattle and buffaloes, filled with beggars, full of the people of the Central Land, abandoned by the people of the borderlands, frequented by learned people. There is the Ganges River, known as a place of clarity, merit, auspiciousness, purity, and cleanliness, with moist banks on both sides.

Ah. There is a place called the abode of the sages, where eighteen rivers flow. There, if the sages practice asceticism, they can go to the heavens with their own bodies. Hey, Shedbu, go and see him, and ask about other things. Are there any who are considered wise in the central region? Wise ones, I have said from the beginning, Shedbu, the central region is filled with central people, abandoned by people from remote areas, and relied upon by wise people, haven't I said that? Shedbu, you have said that. Shedbu, the central region is like this, for example, are there those who are eloquent like our Khenpo? Wise ones, in the central region, there are those whom our Khenpo cannot even bear to look in the face, who are eloquent, who are the best of speakers. Shedbu, in this way, they constantly praised the central region, and therefore, all of them wanted to go to the central region. Then, Shedbu, they searched for sacrificial firewood, carried the burden of sacrificial firewood, went to the hut of that Brahmin, put down the burden of sacrificial firewood, went to the Brahmin, and said these words to the Brahmin: Khenpo, please be aware. Shedbu constantly praises the central region, saying that we must go to the central region no matter what. The Brahmin said: Children, should everything that is heard be traveled to? Like this, places are heard and make people happy, so they should be listened to, but should not be traveled to. Khenpo, Shedbu says that in the central region there are those whom our Khenpo cannot even bear to look in the face, who are eloquent, who are the best of speakers. Children, did I say that on the earth only I can speak, and there is no one else who can speak? The earth bears many treasures, and the earth is filled with beautiful things. Khenpo, one day that place will also be seen, and there will also be play by the water's edge, and those eloquent people will also be served, and the opponents will also be defeated, and one's own fame will also be proclaimed, and gains will also be
