Release these things! They released them as the Blessed One had instructed. They released those things at the end of the Blessed One's instruction. Then, the Blessed One thought to himself: I must, in any case, release into the delightful river all the creatures such as fish, turtles, frogs, baby crocodile killers, and fish-dogs, just like water, except for the crocodile fish species. And also, the crocodile fish species will remember their previous lives, speak human language, and be able to converse with me. I will manifest such a miracle, I will manifest it! Then, the Blessed One, in any case, released into the delightful river all the creatures such as fish, turtles, frogs, baby crocodile killers, and fish-dogs, just like water, except for the crocodile fish species. And also, the crocodile fish species remembered their previous lives, spoke human language, and were able to converse with the Blessed One. In that way, he manifested the miracle. Then, the Blessed One said to the crocodile fish species: Child, are you a beggar? Blessed One, I am a beggar. Child, are you a beggar? Sugata, I am a beggar. Child, do you have misconduct with your body? Blessed One, I do. Child, do you have misconduct with your speech and mind? Sugata, I do. Child, have you experienced the ripening of misconduct with your body? Blessed One, I have experienced it. Child, have you experienced the ripening of misconduct with your speech and mind? Sugata, I have experienced it. Then, who is your unwholesome friend? It is my mother. Where was she born? In the hells of sentient beings. Where were you born? In the animal realm. What do you think? Where will you be born after you die from here? Blessed One, in the hells of sentient beings. Sugata, in the hells of sentient beings! Saying this, he began to weep. Then,

The Bhagavan, at that time, spoke in verse: You are born in the realm of animals, you have entered a state of disadvantage. Thus, I can do nothing. What is the use of crying meaninglessly? King with compassion, have faith and think well of me. Be free from attachment in this animal birth, and then you will go to the heavens. He then developed faith in the Bhagavan. Then, the Bhagavan spoke to him such beautiful Dharma: All conditioned things are impermanent. All phenomena are without self. Nirvana is peace. He taught the Dharma with three sentences. Then, that assembly had a great sense of wonder. Wise people said: Who is this who, as the Bhagavan said, remembers past lives, speaks human language, and speaks with the Bhagavan? The Buddhas, the Bhagavans, are difficult to approach and difficult to endure. We cannot ask the Bhagavan about this matter. Let us go to where the venerable Ananda is, and after going, let us ask the venerable Ananda about this matter. Whatever the venerable Ananda prophesies to us, we will accept it as it is. Then, that assembly went to where the venerable Ananda was, and after going, they said this to the venerable Ananda: Venerable Ananda, as the Bhagavan said, who is this who remembers past lives, speaks human language, and speaks with the Bhagavan? Ananda said: Wise people, ask the Bhagavan himself about this matter. Venerable Ananda, the Buddhas, the Bhagavans, are difficult to approach and difficult to endure. We cannot ask the Bhagavan about this matter. Wise people, for me too, the Buddhas, the Bhagavans, are difficult to approach and difficult to endure, and I cannot ask the Bhagavan about this matter either. However, for your sake, I will ask. Having said this, he went to where the Bhagavan was, and after going, he bowed to the two feet of the Bhagavan with his head and sat down on one side. On one side, he sat

Then, the venerable Ānanda said to the Blessed One: "Venerable Blessed One, who is it that the Blessed One speaks of, who can remember past lives, and can also speak the language of humans, and can speak together with the Blessed One?" Ānanda, this is a kind of crocodile. Ānanda, do you want to start from the previous karmic causes of the crocodile species and listen to talks that are in accordance with the Dharma? The Blessed One, starting from the previous karmic causes of the crocodile species, preached teachings in accordance with the Dharma to the monks and beings, and the monks and beings, having heard from the Blessed One, would uphold them. Blessed One, now is the time! Sugata, now is the time! Therefore, Ānanda, listen and pay close attention, I will speak. Ānanda, in the past, in this great and auspicious kalpa, when the lifespan of beings could reach 20,000 years, the teacher, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, complete in knowledge and conduct, the Sugata, the Knower of the World, the Tamer of Men, the Unsurpassed, the Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One, named Light Protector, appeared in the world. He was surrounded by 20,000 monks and resided near the Deer Park where the sages preached in the city of Varanasi. At that time, in the city of Varanasi, a king named Krikri ruled the kingdom with Dharma, the country was rich, prosperous, and peaceful, the years were bountiful, filled with people and many inhabitants, wars and conflicts, as well as external enemies and internal strife were completely pacified, there were no thieves or famines, nor were there diseases, allowing the cultivation of rice and sugarcane vines, as well as cattle and buffaloes, which were very abundant, and the king who ruled with Dharma governed the country with Dharma. Then, a youth who desired secret words and sought secret words went from the central region to the south. There, there was a Brahmin who was proficient in the Vedas and the various branches of the Vedas, who became the teacher of the Brahmins living in different places, and that youth went to that Brahmin.
