Ga pa. He was allowed to build something that became a staircase to the heavenly realms. In that monastery, sixty monks were observing the summer retreat, so the householder placed guards, instructing them not to steal any beds or small beds that were taken without permission. Later, another sixty monks were traveling and went to that rocky mountain. As they were looking for a place to stay, someone said, "Venerables, why don't you stay in the monastery? Where is the Auspicious Monastery?" "Venerables, it is in this monastery." Those monks went there, and the guard saw them. He greeted them with words of welcome, arranged accommodations, offered beds, small beds, cushions, inner garments, and so on. He borrowed a water strainer and said, "Venerables, please filter water for a moment, and in the meantime, I will tell the householder." That person went to the householder and said, "Householder, rejoice! Sixty monks have suddenly arrived at your monastery." The householder respectfully tidied himself and said to his family, "Wise ones, the monastic community of monks who have come to my monastery, satisfy them with well-prepared drinks. Prepare jaggery, hag, likhar, winter drinks, and cotton seulong." The householder prepared the well-prepared drinks and went to the monastery. The monks also filtered the water and settled down according to their own conduct. The householder saw those monks from afar and saw the monastery as if it were filled with a sea of lotuses. His mind was transformed by the power of great faith, and he spoke a verse from the tantra transformed by the power of widespread faith: Whether it be a village or a monastery, Whether it be a valley or a plain, Wherever it is suitable to dwell, That land is delightful. Then, having prepared the well-prepared drinks, he satisfied the monastic community of monks with his own hands. He himself carried the bowl, and together with the monastic community of monks, he prostrated to the stupa, entered the monastery, and sat next to the elder. The abbot of the monastic community spoke of the merits of the offering, and that householder...

Having prostrated to the two feet, he said, "Tomorrow, please may the noble Sangha accept an invitation to my house for a meal?" The monks also accepted. That householder prostrated to the two feet and departed. The next day, that householder satisfied the monks with food and also offered drinks at an inappropriate time. The monks also taught the Dharma. Later, in the same way, the elder of the Sangha spoke of merit, and that householder sat at the edge of old age and said, "Noble ones, I did not build this monastery for myself, nor for my relatives, but for the sake of the noble ones. Please accept to stay here for the summer retreat, and I will provide all the necessities for the noble ones without causing you any trouble." The monks said, "Householder, in Nyen Yod (Shravasti), the Blessed One, the King of Dharma, resides in person, and from time to time, one hears reports that a certain monk has attained Arhatship, and a certain monk has achieved the stage of non-attractiveness. The king is also very devoted to the teachings, as are the queen Phreng Den Ma (Mallika), the royal family Dbyar Tshul Ma, the wise sage Byin, the old and new devotees, the virtuous woman Saga, the mother of Ri Dwags 'Dzin (Mrigara's mother), and many other faithful patrons. There, both material and spiritual wealth are abundant, so let us go there. Noble ones, spiritual wealth depends on the noble ones themselves, while material wealth depends on me, so please be happy, and there will be no loss at all." The elder of the Sangha said, "Venerable ones, the Blessed One has said that the faith of the faithful should be increased and that one should be compassionate towards the patrons. Therefore, let us stay here." So they stayed there, and with firm resolve, they began to examine the interior and exterior of the monastery separately. Seeing the monastery full of abundant flowers and fruits, they were very pleased, and the Sang

Earth-steadfast said: "Venerable ones, this monastery is very delightful, abundant with flowers and fruits. If we were to observe the early rains retreat here, all the flowers and fruits would be completely consumed. We must definitely observe the later rains retreat." So they agreed to observe the later rains retreat there. That householder had only that one monastery, so whatever he thought of giving and doing, he gave and did it all at that very monastery. In that rock cave, there was no other monastery, so those rock cave dwellers also gave and did whatever they thought of giving and doing at that very monastery. Near that rock cave, there was also no other monastery, so those near the rock cave also gave and did all that they thought of giving and doing at that very monastery. Therefore, the monks who had agreed to observe the rains retreat there received much gain. The usual practice of the heretics of the small autumn month is: as soon as the restrictions are lifted, they gather together and discuss, "What work should we do so that we can enjoy comfort and ease throughout the year without having to toil?" They think to themselves: "We should destroy these renunciates, sons of the Shakya." Others said: "Even if we recite a hundred door bolts, it is difficult to fill our bellies. Since they have nothing, why should we stay in this place?" There was one who knew the details of the monks, who said: "What do you know? They have a lot. For example, that householder to whom this monastery belongs is a devout, good, and virtuous-minded person. And that householder has only this one monastery, so whatever he thinks of giving and doing, he gives and does it all at this very monastery. In this rock cave, there is no other monastery, so the people of this rock cave also give and do whatever they think of giving and doing at this very monastery. Near this rock cave, there is also no other monastery, so the rock
