Or for wiping, or for bathing, or for anointing, or for garlands and scents and perfumes, or for incense, making a mixture of poison powder, and if that author dies because of that, the bhikkhu is defeated. Even if it is not at that time, if it is after that, then the bhikkhu is defeated. Even if it is not at that time, and not after that, then for the bhikkhu, the previous action itself constitutes a grave offense. There are two kinds of binding: binding to the ground and binding to a tree. A bhikkhu, with the intention of killing a man, a woman, or a hermaphrodite, thinking like this: 'May this one die because of this,' whether eaten by lions, tigers, bears, sea monsters, or wolves, or completely dried up, completely exhausted, completely destroyed by wind and sun, or tormented by the weakness of hunger and thirst, may he die. Placing him in a ground binding and causing him to enter below the vagina, and if that author dies because of that, the bhikkhu is defeated. Even if it is not at that time, if it is after that, then the bhikkhu is defeated. Even if it is not at that time, and not after that, then for the bhikkhu, the previous action itself constitutes a grave offense. Just as below the vagina, thinking like this: 'May this one die because of this,' whether eaten by lions, tigers, bears, sea monsters, or wolves, or completely dried up, completely exhausted, completely destroyed by wind and sun, or tormented by the weakness of hunger and thirst, causing him to enter below the anus, or below the thigh, or below the foot, or below the chest, or below the throat, and if that author dies because of that, the bhikkhu is defeated. Even if it is not at that time, if it is after that, then the bhikkhu is defeated. Even if it is not at that time, and not after that, then for the bhikkhu, the previous action itself constitutes a grave offense.

Is it with the thought that he might die? Or that he might be eaten by lions? Or tigers? Or wolves? Or bears? Or foxes? Or that he might be completely dried up by the wind and sun, completely exhausted, completely destroyed? Is it with the thought that he might die, afflicted by the weakness of hunger and thirst, that he is bound to a tree, placed, or tied with a wet rope below the knees to a pillar or a sturdy stake? If that author dies because of that, the bhikshu will be defeated. If he does not die at that time, but dies after that, the bhikshu will be defeated. If he does not die at that time, and does not die after that, then for the bhikshu, the previous action itself will constitute a grave offense. Just as it is below the knees, similarly, is it with the thought that he might die because of this action? Or that he might be eaten by lions? Or tigers? Or wolves? Or bears? Or foxes?
