When the merchant's wife began to wake the merchant, (she asked:) "Has the merchant really been put to sleep?" The maidservant said, "The wicked one has removed the enemy from his stomach, so let him sleep, do not wake him." The merchant's wife thought, "I must see what kind of enemy is in his stomach." So she began to examine it and saw that the time had come. The merchant's wife had an idea: "This is not the maidservant's idea, but the idea of that son-eating woman, whose son is proficient in the three pitakas. Because when he reads the three pitakas, he teaches nothing other than these dharmas, (he says:) 'Father, you will not be unhappy, if you go to another place, the harvest will be good, the heavenly realm is like being separated by silk, liberation is like being covered by a curtain, even if the body is destroyed, you will be born among the gods.' Now his body is also destroyed, and he has already been born among the gods, come back, enjoy happiness with me, and continue to do the housework." The wife spoke these words with feelings of pain, and then decorated the coffin with blue, yellow, red, and white cloths, and cremated it in the cemetery outside Shravasti (Sanskrit: Śrāvastī). After that, she held a ceremony to dispel grief and sat down. The wife repeated these words from time to time, so the bhikshu who was proficient in the three pitakas heard the news of his father's death and thought, "Although this is the nature of all composite things, I will still go to attend the old woman's ceremony to dispel grief." So he went. The old woman saw the bhikshu from afar. After seeing him, she said again, "That son-eating woman, her son is proficient in the three pitakas, when he reads the three pitakas, he teaches nothing other than these dharmas, (he says:) 'Father, you will not be unhappy, if you go to another place, the harvest will be good, the heavenly realm is like being separated by silk, liberation is like being covered by a curtain, even if the body is destroyed, you will be born among the gods.' Now his body is also destroyed, and he has already been born among the gods, come back, enjoy happiness with me, and continue to do the housework."

And, the monk, being afraid, returned from there. He felt regret, thinking: Did I not cause him to die? He told this matter to the monks. The monks petitioned the Blessed One. The Blessed One declared: Monks, that monk has no offense. Furthermore, a monk should not teach a sick person any Dharma that he hears and thinks he will die. If a monk teaches a sick person any Dharma that he hears and thinks he will die, he will commit a serious offense. This also happened temporarily, so the Buddha Bhagavan did not establish the basis of learning for the disciples to be tamed. The Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling in Shravasti, on the bank of the pleasant river, in the grove of lamp trees. Now, the Blessed One said to the community of monks: Monks, meditate on the impure! Cultivating, familiarizing, and repeatedly cultivating the impure will bring great fruit and benefit. Thus, he taught the impure and also praised the merits of meditating on the impure. The Blessed One said: Monks, meditate on the impure! Cultivating, familiarizing, and repeatedly cultivating the impure will bring great fruit and benefit. When he finished speaking, the monks began to meditate on the impure. When they meditated on the impure, they felt disgusted, depressed, doubtful, and hateful because of this body of pus, and even drew weapons, also ate poison, bound themselves with ropes and died, and also jumped off cliffs. Thus, monks also inflicted violence on other monks. Then, another monk, feeling disgusted, depressed, doubtful, and hateful because of his own body, went to the hunter heretic Sbeta, and after arriving, he said to the hunter heretic Sbeta: Good man, come here! Please take my life, and whatever is my bowl and Dharma robe will be yours. Then, the hunter heretic Sbeta took the life of that monk, and the sword was stained with blood.

Having taken it, he went to the river called Delightful River, and having arrived, he squatted by the bank of the Delightful River and washed the sword stained with blood. Then, a god belonging to the retinue of demons, without parting the stream of the Delightful River, sat there and said this to the ascetic Deer-protector Sbe: "Well done, well done! Like you, as a bhikkhu who is virtuous and endowed with qualities, you cause those who have not crossed over to cross over, those who have not been liberated to be liberated, those who have not breathed out to breathe out, and those who have not attained complete nirvana to attain complete nirvana, you will accumulate much merit. Whatever alms bowl and robes those people have will belong to you, and this will also be an additional gain for you." The ascetic Deer-protector Sbe thought to himself: "Like me, as a bhikkhu who is virtuous and endowed with qualities, I cause those who have not crossed over to cross over, those who have not been liberated to be liberated, those who have not breathed out to breathe out, and those who have not attained complete nirvana to attain complete nirvana, this is indeed true, I will accumulate much merit, and whatever alms bowl and robes those people have will belong to me, and this will also be an additional gain for me." In this way, he obtained the form of a greatly sinful view. Then, the ascetic Deer-protector Sbe, carrying the sharp sword under his armpit, from monastery to monastery, from temple to temple, from house to house, from promenade to promenade, wandering on the crossroads, seeing those monks, said this: "Who is the virtuous and endowed bhikkhu, who is the uncrossed to be crossed, who is the unliberated to be liberated, who is the unbreathed to be breathed out, who is the un-completely nirvanaed to be completely nirvanaed?" Therefore, a bhikkhu with a body of pus and blood, having been expelled from his dwelling due to laziness, sloth, hesitation, and reproach, said this to the ascetic Deer-protector Sbe: "Good sir, I am uncrossed, please cross me over! I am unliberated, please liberate me! I am unbreathed, please breathe
